From Facebook to Marriage - Part 3: The Engagement Day Full of Laughter, Prayers, and... The Missing Food Boxes

Hello, my dear Family & Friends We’ve finally made it to Part 3 of our story.
If in Part 1 & 2 we were still getting to know each other on Facebook, well... now we are officially "engaged." Yes, this is the story of our engagement day.
The Day We Waited 1 Year For
At that time, we agreed: engagement first, wedding 1 year later, the reason was simple, we were waiting for my mom to come home from abroad. And also... we needed time to save money, prepare mentally, and prepare our home.
But once we were engaged, everything felt different, from "girlfriend and boyfriend" to "fiancé and fiancée." Was my heart pounding? Yes. Was I nervous? Absolutely.
Behind the "Eva & Agus" Decoration
Look at this backdrop. It’s simple, but it made me melt, our names, "Eva & Agus," were hanging right there, it felt so real, like, "Oh, this is actually happening."
She wore a light blue kebaya with batik. I wore a matching batik shirt with her, taking photos in front of this backdrop was a must, especially the close-up photo of the rings.
Two hands, two rings, one promise, he little gold heart bracelet was from her, it’s small, but it means the world to us.
Plot Twist: The Food Boxes That Were Never Photographed
Now, this is the most "me" part of the story On our engagement day, my family brought SO MUCH FOOD. Not just 1 or 2 boxes. The whole table was full, there were cakes, traditional snacks, fruits, and so much more. Our intention was to make it lively and make sure the whole big family was full and happy.
But... Where are the photos? They’re GONE, they were saved on my old phone, and that phone is completely broken now. I still regret it to this day, because that was proof of my family’s love for his family.
So I’m sorry, friends, you’ll just have to imagine it, Imagine a long table full of food, qnd imagine us walking around, greeting guests with stiff, nervous smiles because we were so shy.
From Awkward Selfies to a Lifetime Promise
Here are a few selfies we took that day, can you see our expressions? Nervous, awkward, but so happy, one of us was wearing a hijab, and one wasn’t. But what mattered most was that we were smiling together.
From Facebook chats, to late-night video calls, to secret meetups... To finally sitting together in front of our parents, exchanging rings, it felt like a dream.
Closing: 1 Year To Go
My fiancée received this blue ribbon gift box, and a few other gifts too, inside were keepsakes. And we also took home one big assignment: preparing for the wedding in 1 year.
To be honest, 1 year feels both long and short. Long, because we’re waiting to make it official.
Short, because there’s so much to prepare.
But we’re going through it together.
