What is the meaning of freedom?

There are two types of people in this world: though, of course, in different timelines of humanity. One is the ancient hunter gatherer. He had seen no ruler, no tax officer and no one to control his life. He was free to roam the entire world without caring about visas or passports. On the other hand, there were people of different countries and different eras. They lived the same kind of life - they were slaves, working for their masters and dying for their masters. They had no life of their own. So, clearly, the ancient hunter gatherer was the most independent and free human in all of history. In the modern world, we call ourselves free, but we are surrounded by rulers and their pet system runners who control us in many ways. They control how much we can earn and spend. They take a large portion of our savings in the form of taxes. They decide what we should eat, wear and how we should live. They even control our thoughts. In the modern world we work for our new masters whom we call employers. But employers are not free either. They work for money, and without money they cannot survive. Then come the powerful elites, their pet politicians and bureaucrats. They are always afraid of revolt. They cannot roam freely on earth. They are surrounded by bodyguards and live in constant fear of losing their power. That’s why they are always busy in controlling people. So, in the modern world, no one is truly free, no matter how powerful he is. True freedom we have lost a long ago when we started making states and empires. Thanks!
