Still Going

Sometimes the camera catches something completely different from what you took it out for.
One day, I spotted yet another beautiful tree on the riverbank — trees have been one of my photographic obsessions for quite some time. Then, almost immediately, I noticed a tree stump right in the middle of the river. And it turned out to be far more interesting.
It used to be a tree, too. Now all that remains is the lower part of its trunk, sticking out of the water. It looked like a tiny vessel that had slipped into the river without permission and was now sailing against the current.
So apparently, a tree has several career options even after death. It can become firewood, rot away in the forest, or set off on a voyage of its own. Though in that last case, the voyage might just involve lying in the same spot for years, going absolutely nowhere.
Not the worst strategy.
