This time, we continue our intense journey through Black Mesa, with the crucial mission of taking down a colossal and grotesque creature blocking our path in the middle of the launch silo. This monster, which looks like it came straight out of an alien nightmare with its enormous tentacles, won't let me advance unless I use my ingenuity and all the machinery available in the complex to completely incinerate it. Continuing right where we left off in the previous chapter, things aren't looking easy. To ignite the main rocket engine and burn the hideous creature that dominates the central hall, I first need to activate three essential services: oxygen, fuel, and power. My first destination takes me straight to the lower levels to activate a massive ventilation turbine. The atmosphere down here is claustrophobic, filled with rusty pipes and zombies lurking around every corner. After dealing with them and activating the main panel, the gigantic blades begin to spin at full power. Taking advantage of the tremendous force of the wind generated by the system, I launched myself into the void to float through the duct and reach an upper ledge that gave me access to another area of the facility. The adrenaline rush at that moment was incredible.
Once in this new section of the complex, the challenge does not diminish. I'm in the supply piping area, where I'm activating a gas pressure valve. Every step I take is with my heart in my throat, knowing that the slightest noise in the corridors connected to the central silo could unleash the monster's fury. Steam roars around me as I adjust the flow, allowing the necessary chemical elements to continue accumulating in the combustion chamber. With that step complete, there's no time to lose; I quickly head to the final area to finish configuring the machinery.
The path to the last switch became a real test of survival. After eliminating several annoying headcrabs and alien creatures that were jumping at my neck, I had to perform some perfectly timed platform jumps, narrowly avoiding a fatal fall into a pit flooded with intimidatingly bright green toxic waste. Having overcome this last obstacle with my nerves on edge, I reached the power button. Pressing it made the complex's lights flash and the roar of the engines confirmed what I had been waiting for: the machinery necessary for the purge was fully active and ready for the show.
