ÂżPor quĂ© no habĂas aparecido antes?
-Mejor me voy.
ÂżPor quĂ© me sentĂa asĂ?

A Cup of Stars (Creative Writing)

I remember the first time I saw your famous tea, and I remember the beautiful star-patterned cup you served it in. With a smile as warm as a thousand suns, you sat down at the table, and while I looked through the family photo album, you poured the tea with the elegance of a princess.
"You know," I said, "this tea is special. It's a personal recipe, a combination of unique plants from my garden, along with others from a little farther away."
That afternoon, I had so many questions for you. So many unanswered questions. Why hadn't you appeared sooner? In the first place, why did you leave? I savored every drop of the tea, and although it was very sweet, it was still pleasant. My questions remained there, dwelling only within my mind.
"Do you remember this photo? I have one just like it."
I recognized myself, small and vulnerable, in those gray tones that photographs of that era had. I knew it was you holding me, but I couldn't remember your face. The other people around me were still clear in my mind: they raised me, they cared for me, I watched them leave.
Fearfully, I opened my lips and asked the first question, a question you seemed to be dreading.
"Was I a mistake?"
"That doesn't matter now, does it? But no, you weren't. The only mistake was me and my fears. I didn't know who I was, and the world demanded I pretend."
I looked at your perfectly painted navy blue nails with small white details.
"They remind me of the sea."
"Don't you think I'm a little old for a color like that?"
"Not at all, they look great on you."
"I was afraid you wouldn't want to see me."
"I just wanted to stop feeling guilty about your absence."
Those words filled my soul with pain, and a cascade of emotions coursed through my body. What kind of woman leaves behind her family, her newborn son? What kind of woman disappears from life and reappears 34 years later?
I glanced around the house, avoiding her gaze, and lowered it to the star-patterned cup where the tea had vanished.
"You've been here a while, haven't you?"
"A decade, exactly a decade today."
"And in that decade, you didn't think to call me, to tell me you'd come back?"
"I was afraid you wouldn't accept me."
"I'd better go."
As I stood up, nervously, I grabbed the photo album and accidentally knocked the beautiful cup to the floor, shattering it. A wave of terror washed over me, making me shudder.
"Don't worry, I'll take them myself."
"I'll pay you."
"No, no arguments."
I ran through the garden and walked, walked without looking back. The streets passed one after another; I had no destination in mind. I just needed to get away, I just needed to think. What had happened? Why did I feel this way? Why couldn't I confront her about her absences?
A week later, a package wrapped in recycled paper arrived in my mailbox. There was no address or return address, but I knew it was from her, and I knew she had personally delivered it. I took it to the kitchen table and opened it. Inside were two teacups, both decorated with stars. I recognized one immediately: it was the cup I had broken. I had carefully glued it back together, but the cracks were still visible. Next to the cups was a small note: "The broken cup represents our memories. Even if we try to repair it, marks will always remain. I propose we create a new cup, one without cracks." My vision blurred slightly, a sharp pain shot through my chest, and I laughed. I knew I would taste that overly sweet tea again.
