God’s invitation for you to give is not because He needs what you possess but because He desires to bless you through it. Giving opens the door of heavenly exchange: You give yourself and God in turn gives you Himself.
In 2 CORINTHIANS 8:1–5, Paul admonishes the churches in Macedonia. During a severe famine that affected believers in Jerusalem, the Macedonian Christians, though facing poverty and hardship themselves, gave ruggedly to help their brethren. Their giving was not based on abundance but on love and a compassionate heart.
