The Steepening, what it is, where it's at and how I got here. Also summer is heckin busy.

First off, I'm not going to be posting regularly over the summer. I'm working at day camps and still doing my part time Sunday gig and being outside and surrounded by kids is leaving me pretty spent. I'm hoping to do at least 2-3 posts a month still. Which is likely not actully going to happen cause it's been a month since I started drafting this and my only posts are the one drafted by Strava.

Anyway onto the topic of this post which is the app I'm designing and Claude Code is coding.

What kind of app you might ask?

It's an app that is a village builder that is powered by steps rather than time.

The first step was to just track steps. With Cluade code running things it was very easy to make an extremely simple app that just tracked steps. Then I added currency earned with steps. And from there it' ballonned.

I've got an avatar page where the colour of clothing can be changed as much as you want.

The next step with avatar stuff is refineing the avatar base so there aren't issues like what's going on with the elbow there. From there it'll be drawing up way more assets so that there's different equipment. The game will have many many many much many artworks with it. Here's three!

These are pouches that will have a little bit of loot in them :)

There's also three types of areas that can be explored, a forest for herbs and lumber, a mine/quarry combo for getting rocks and ore, and a dungeon for getting bits of ancient tech and lore of an ancient civilization. As well as chests with exciting things in them.

One of the really cool things I'm currently working on is a generated map that will serve two purposes one is representing how much of an area ha been explored, as well as showing where work is needed to make exploring further possible. The other is a source of a buff that for one run, increases the chance of finding better stuff.

Right now it doesn't look great, YET. lol.

Creating art work that tiles is a skill I am learning. If you can't tell it's a path with trees and rocks. The boarder also looks like ass cause I used a boarder meant for items which will be real small. I'm going to making one that makes it look like it's in a wooden frame.

The cool thing though is Claude code made it so that even when shuffled a bunch the roads and rivers gennerally line up in ways that make sense. Which doesn't fix the fact that both look like rubbish due to all 20 or so assets being made in less then 10 minutes cause I was excited to see what it could do.

I've also done some other animation on simpler things just to get the hang of using Spine, the program I'm going to be using for all the animation and stuff in the game.

Here's a goofy little pillow.

Ah well, that's what I got to say. Hope you're all doing well. Bye

Eventually there will be a village view with all your people and animal companions wandering around, buildings with different little things happening depending on the weather and if they're activity crafting, being upgraded or if they're idle.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the project!
