Too Close to the Sun | Surreal Digital Art

It has been nearly a month without a single drop of rain in my region. The sun’s heat feels overwhelmingly intense, the soil has hardened, and the local water sources around my house are slowly drying up. Just yesterday, the sky turned dark with heavy clouds, and thunder echoed from afar, promising a long-awaited downpour. But the dark clouds merely passed over, offering a brief illusion before disappearing, leaving behind a scorching heat that burns even brighter.
This intense drought inspired my latest piece. It made me imagine Mother Earth held directly in the hands of the Sun, a cosmic hug that feels both protective and dangerously warm.
I altered the woman’s portrait, replacing her head with a sun deity framed by vibrant solar flares, and placed a miniature glowing planet Earth directly in front of her hands.
The sharp 8-point stars surrounding the central ring were drawn manually using the Polygon Shape Tool. I adjusted the star ratio settings to achieve clean, sharp geometric light bursts.
For the colorful square accents at the top and bottom corners, I used the Rectangle Tool set to Overlay blending mode. This seamlessly merged the colors into the textured background, giving the impression of telescopic spectrum sensors or digital artifacts.
I added a subtle scattering of glowing stardust across the figure's body to reinforce the idea that her form is an integral part of the solar structure and the cosmic space surrounding her.
Of course, the artwork wasn't complete without fine-tuning the brightness and contrast levels. To wrap it all up, I added a subtle touch of grain effect, giving the digital composition a much more natural, film-like texture. hehe.
