The Book of Micah is a very short book, and it doesn't recount events from the prophet's life, as the books of Hosea and Isaiah do. The Book of Micah is essentially a collection of oracles that alternate between God's condemnation of Israel's sins and various prophecies related to the restoration of the Davidic dynasty. In particular, there is one prophecy concerning the birthplace of Jesus that specifically mentions the city of Bethlehem, according to the Christian faith. The book begins by recounting the period in which the prophet received the word of God, the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. Like every prophet, he began by teaching in his oracles that sin puts a barrier between God and men, because God, in his eternal wisdom, cannot coexist with error. And so, among other things, the prophet foretold in his oracles the fall of Samaria, the capital of the Kingdom of Israel, to the foreign invader. And the prophet wrote that in the time of need, the Lord would hide his face from the Kingdom of Israel, that is, he would not manifest his spiritual guidance. And with these words, the prophet announced God's rejection of Samaria because of its sins: "Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done" Micah 3:4. These types of prophecies are very common among the prophets and in the Old Testament in general because God only grants his spiritual guidance to those who fear him with all their heart. Solomon, who was a king devoted to God, saw the face of God when he received wisdom from the heart in the holy place of Gibeon, for example. That is why Micah continued and wrote that the mercenary prophets would only receive darkness, ignorance, and shame with these words: "They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God" Micah 3:7. Micah's oracle concludes by warning that spiritual knowledge was reserved only for him as a true prophet and a man who feared God.
