The Muddy Butterfly Whisperer🦋 🌾

While visiting the rice fields on our Sunday holiday, we decided to do some old-fashioned fishing using whatever materials we had on hand. We grabbed a pot, some cloth, and used our shawls to make makeshift nets right there in the muddy water.

It was hard work, but so peaceful. As we were moving around in the water, this beautiful creature with bright orange wings and perfect, peacock-like eye spots started following us. At first, we were so excited that we tried to catch it, but it was too quick and kept fluttering away from us.

But something magical happened as we continued working. As our hands got covered in the wet mud and began to smell strongly of the fish we were catching, the butterfly completely changed its behavior. It seemed to love the smell!

It stopped flying away and started landing right on us. It would sit on my muddy hand, rest on my knee, and even landed on my blue shirt sleeve. It just never left us for the rest of the day, even landing on the rim of the bucket full of fish to keep us company.

It was such a beautiful, peaceful encounter with nature. Sometimes, the best moments in life are the ones where you just stop, get muddy, and let the wild things come to you. Here are some more details about the butterfly. | Latin name | Junonia almana | |:---------------|:-----------------------| | Observation date | 06 September , 2026 | | Camera used | Iphone 14| | Photographers | @bibekpokharel37 | | Location | Madhyabindu Municipality, Nawalparasi District, Nepal |
