TODAY IN THE STUDIO
So Today is Fathers day here in Australia. It is also totally boiling hot. No Spring here this is Aussie summer temperatures. 32 Degrees at lunch. Sure there is a few more degrees we might get in ACUTAL summer, however that is enough for today.
I managed to get a daily painting in today, despite making breakfast, jobs and all the jazz. Had to clean out the spa pool and do a dump and refill today after having heated it to 40 degrees to clean it proper. Just getting rid of all the excess oil and nasties and doing a full sanitize. you dump the water afterwards and wipe then refill. its a big job but needs to be done.
Good time to do this with the sun blazing as i need to run the spa for an hour properly and after its taken about 10 hours of being on to heat it to 40. Thank god for the solar. its not cost us a cent to do this clean. (other than the water. which i am dumping into an area of the property that i want to kill the weeds. so hopefully it does. However Australian weeds are so tough they probably don't care about the chlorine and just want the water... groan...
anyway... painting..
Today's Painting is A little puppy in the garden Today's painting.... Ground: Canvas Panel Paint: acrylic Colours: Usual colours. blues brown, warm red and yellow, (oddly black) white. nothing very fancy. Time: look likely 1 - 1.5 hours. i had to break it up a bit. My hand is sore and i was busy.
I don't normally do anything |figurative... or in the case it was a dog.... so im a bit (or rather a lot) under practiced.
I did some semblance of a tonal underpainting in burnt sienna before i started. Got bored of that and moved to some blocking and then coloured over. Its easier with the acrylics as they dry so fast. and did i mention its hot so air con and fans are blazing at max.
Again i can't stress how much i like getting ANYTHING down on the canvas first... so it removes the white canvas. it takes the stress out a little bit. then you can build up. i find it the best method. i dpnt know how artists can start in one corner and just fill in as they go. its crazy. Then again. that is likely raw and awesome talent to do that.
This certainly needs some tidy up. a few areas are not quite as i wanted... however... it is supposed to be what i can get done in about an hour. And this took slightly longer. so im going to stop. Sometimes i go back and fix them later... see how we go...
HERE ARE SOME OF MY RECENT DAILY PAINTINGS
And yes i really need to change around these images again... but i can't be bothered today... lol
LOVE AND LIGHT HAPPY PAINTING
