Heavy rain and high winds are causing power outages and cancellations in parts of the Maritimes, with serious flooding across Cape Breton.
State of emergency A local state of emergency was declared Saturday evening in Inverness, Richmond and Victoria counties “due to severe flooding and widespread damage.”
According to the province, multiple roads are closed and conditions remain dangerous.
Residents are being asked to stay off the roads unless travel is essential for health, safety or emergency purposes. An alert ready message was sent to those in the impacted area Saturday evening. While Sydney and the surrounding area was not included in the state of emergency, several roads were underwater Saturday as a result of localized flooding."
This is the weather we could have had in Newfoundland. So we are lucky, our neibours not so much.
My thoughts are going out to them at the same time I am thankful we do not have it that bad here.
