Is Being Poor a Mental Condition, or a Medical Condition?

When you really with the really broke in society, you find there are two classes. People who are broke, and people who are poor.

Broke is a temporary condition. Like, being between gigs.

Poor is a permanent condition, and involves every aspect of the poor person's life. They are poor in money They are poor in health They are poor in thought They are poor in ethics

Being broke can be cured with more money. Being poor cannot be cured with a PowerBall Lottery jackpot win.

So, what do we do with this information? And what does this have to do with getting rich?

You must purge the "poor" from your life

I assume you are not poor. You may be broke. The poor wouldn't be reading this blog.

HOWEVER, you may be acting poor in many ways.

Most poor have addictions. Things like alcoholism, drugs, gambling. And an inability to see into next week.

Still, many people buy lottery tickets, and really shitty beer and smokes.

If these are an addiction, you life is screwed. You need help. And the only one powerful enough for this kind of help is God. Check out 12 step programs. It is a path of getting out of this abyss.

However, if you can avoid buying a lottery ticket while you are at the store, even if you have to use willpower to do it, you are salvageable. I know so many people who go to the convenience store, and cannot help but come home with a lottery ticket. The say things like "if you want to win, you have to play" "If you don't buy a ticket, your chances of winning are zero". These are poor person thoughts.

You need to rid yourself of poor person thought. They are draining your life.

I am not speaking of using willpower to avoid buying lottery tickets, i am talking about changing the way you think

Gazingus Pins

The book Your Money of Your Life talks about Gazingus Pins. What is that thing that you go to the store, and you always buy some. And further, the book doesn't reprimand you for buying them (because then you are just relying on willpower.)

The book says to write down ALL of your expenses. Every time you go to the store, write down how much you spent, and for what. Write down your house payment, electrical bill, everything where money leaves you.

And then, at the end of the month, put all of expenses into categories. And add them up.

Then! with each category ask yourself did you get your money's worth. Did that expenditure make you sad or happy? Be honest, you house bill may be pretty big, but you have a place to lay down and relax.

Give each category a smiley face, a sad face or a neutral face.

This is important for your brain. Giving it feedback. You will naturally start wanting to cut back on the things that make you sad.

The things that make you happy, you may want to spend more on, if you have the available finances. And, if you don't, work out on how to create more income. This is a really motivating brain work-out. Getting more of the things that make you happy, will get your brain pumping on how to make more money.

Now, about those gazingus pins. Which category were they in? If they are not bringing much enjoyment, now you have a reason to avoid buying them. However, they may be actually bringing your joy.

Do this each month, and notice the point where you have reached peak happiness. A box of cookies may be good. Two, not as much. Ten is too much and makes you feel sick. Same with your expenses.

Poor thoughts

I was talking to a semi-poor thinking person, who has a basket of beany-babies that she bought for the grandchildren who she thought would like them. But, the grandchildren don't care. She was telling me how rare some of them are, or how hard she had to work to get them. I suggested that she sell them on ebay and get money to help her life. And she brushed that off as too much work, and not worth it.

Not worth getting 100s of dollars for hours of work, when you are spending most of the time watching TV?

Not worth getting them out of your house, to people who would really like them?

The shocking thing to me is how easily she blew off the idea.

This is what it is like with poor thought. It is so often the path of least resistance, and become rich is an uphill battle.

Shows like "Lifestyles of the notRich and inFamous" are very damaging to our society.

It makes poor people feel worthless (not motivated) and feel like they can never get that.

And the worst part is this IS NOT how the rich live. It sets up the wrong reasoning in people's minds.

A CEO has a private jet. "How extravagant", most people say! However, many a CEO worked out how much time they were spending in airports waiting on planes and how much that was costing them. The private jet works out to be a cost savings. It is not about having the "private jet" it is about not wasting hours of their lives dealing with airports.

All those pictures you see of parties in private jets at 10,000 feet, are just photo-ops. Most CEOs are working on their computers the entire flight, barely looking up.

So, when you are making tons of money, at what point do you hire someone else to do mundane things? When do you start delegating to others, to make your time more efficient? These are "rich" thoughts.

You must exorcize the poor thoughts from your mind. They are destroying your life. After that, start working on adopting rich thoughts.

(and that private jet is a very poor idea, if you rarely use it. Are rarely in the air. Are rarely going anywhere. You must make a careful cost analysis. AND DECIDE IF THAT EXPENDITURE WILL BRING YOU JOY)
