Today, I decided to complete a side mission. You might recall that while investigating in the Yamu market, I met an old man. He spoke of a book called The Book of the Dead. He believed that this book would show him the way to reunite with his deceased wife after death. That is why he wanted the book to be with him when he died.
I promised him that I would find the book and hand it over to him. He told me the book was in a cave in the southern desert, but that a group of bandits guarded the cave. I set out for the southern desert to retrieve the book.
All around sand and so much heat. Riding a horse through that harsh environment, I made my way toward the cave. After reaching the site, the first thing I did was to survey the entire area with Sinu’s help. I observed everything. The number of guards, the weapons they carried, and exactly where each of them was standing.
A plan came into my mind. There was a high ground right next to the cave. Standing there would make it easy to attack all the bandits below with a bow. This way, I could avoid unnecessary combat and wouldn't risk my own health.
I put that plan into action. Using a high vantage point, I fired arrow after arrow and killed all the bandits. The funniest part was that they couldn't even figure out where the attack was coming from. One by one, they all slumped to the ground. Honestly, from now on, I’m going to fight using a bow the most. It saves time and reduces the risk.
I descended and entered the cave. Stepping inside through a narrow entrance, the place felt quite menacing. The atmosphere was dark and silent. After searching for a while, I finally found 'The Book of the Dead'.
I quickly set off towards the old man's house with the book in my hand. But an interesting incident occurred along the way. Suddenly an assassin on horseback appeared out of nowhere and attacked me. But he was no match for me, a single blow from my sword killed him.
Finally, I arrived at the old man's house. I went upstairs and saw the old man's daughter sitting and crying.
As soon as I asked her, she said You did a lot for my father. But you are late. Father is no more. He has been taken to the temple.
I felt terrible upon hearing that. I went to the temple and placed The Book of the Dead beside his dead body. Then I prayed silently that he might be reunited with his beloved wife in the afterlife.
