Greetings to everyone in the Music community. Today I’m joining you here to share yet another performance by the women’s choir “Canticum Merú.” For this occasion, I’m bringing you a video of us singing the song “Canto de Lavanderas,” a traditional piece of Venezuelan folklore. It’s a song attributed to colonial times, when women would gather to wash clothes by the riverbank and, to make the task more bearable, would turn to song—which is always a balm for the heart. From there, it evolved into more than just a song; it became an anthem that reflects the context of an era and the feelings of a group. Today, we sing so that what must never be forgotten will never be forgotten.
The event where we performed was organized to support Farah, the famous chocolate shop in Ciudad Guayana. Its owner, by the way, is a very kind, talented, and noble woman who wanted to include us and hoped that, through music, we could promote the idea of feminine strength. The event was practically geared toward women, so our participation there went quite well. Although the musicians who accompany us as always were there too (hahaha)—Mr. José Maiso and Tomás. It was a lovely day. We sang with love and also tasted some chocolate. Go try her chocolates—they’re very diverse and exquisite, since she’s studied to make sure they’re just that way. > Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Music. El día de hoy me uno por acá para compartir con ustedes nuevamente otra presentación de la coral femenina "Canticum Merú ". Para esta ocasión les traigo un video donde cantamos la canción "Canto de Lavanderas", qué es una pieza tradicional del folklore de Venezuela. Es un canto que se atribuye a los tiempos coloniales donde las mujeres se reunían para la labor de lavar la ropa a la orilla del río y para hacer mas llevadero el oficio, recurrían al canto... que siempre en bálsamo para el corazón. De allí trascendió a ser más que una canción, sino un himno que refleja el contexto de una época y el sentir de un grupo. Hoy nosotras cantamos para que nunca se olvide aquello que no debe ser olvidado.
> Ese evento en el cual nos presentamos, fue a razón de colaborar para la famosa chocolatera de Ciudad Guayana, Farah. Su dueña es por cierto, una mujer muy amable, talentosa y noble, que deseaba poder tenernos presente y que a través de la música potenciáramos la idea del valor femenino. Ese evento fue prácticamente dirigido para mujeres, por lo cual quedó bastante bien nuestra participación allí. Aunque también estaban los músicos que nos acompañaban como siempre (jajaja). El señor José Maiso y Tomás. Fue un día muy bonito. Se cantó con cariño y también probamos chocolate. Vayan a probar sus chocolates, son muy variados y exquisitos pues ella ha estudiado para que así sean. Los dejo con el video. Espero les guste y vean a las solistas que merecen un aplauso.
