The key distinction between a child of God and a sinner lies in their nature and response to sin. To the Child of God, righteousness is a way of life. Sin may occur but it grieves the heart, leading to remorse and forgiveness. But to the sinner, sin is a way of life; there is no atom of remorse whatsoever, no repentance and no desire for change.
As believers, we still live in the flesh and as the Bible informs us, there is a daily struggle between the flesh and the Spirit. These two forces are constantly fighting for our allegiance. Whichever one you succumb to will dominate your life.
That’s why we must deprive the flesh of its cravings through prayer, fasting and the study of God’s Word, while feeding the spirit with truth and obedience. The more you clothe yourself with the armour of God, the stronger you become spiritually.
