As believers we are expected to fall back to the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Jude addressed a critical issue confronting believers during his time which is the need to defend the original teachings of the Apostles.

He admonished them to contend for the faith: ”Jude 1:3 - Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you… it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”.

The same gospel spread across nations by the Apostles, distinct from the distorted teachings of false teachers. He went on further to say in verse 4: “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying… our Lord Jesus Christ”.

When Jude speaks of “faith,” he is not referring to faith for miracles or blessings but to faith in Jesus alone, a faith that leads to salvation and entry into the Kingdom of God. He also encouraged Christians to stand against heretical doctrines that could hinder their spiritual growth.
