Liverpool Chase First Win As Ipswich Look To Cause Another Upset At Portman Road

Liverpool head to Portman Road on Friday still looking for their first Premier League win of the season having drawn their first two fixtures of new boss Andoni Iraola’s tenure against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest. The Reds have not kept a clean sheet in their last two games.
Ipswich Town are third with three points from two matches after promotion from the Championship back into the top flight. Sunderland lost 2-1 to Gary O’Neil’s side on the opening day before suffering a heavy 5-2 defeat at Manchester United, where Leif Davis had given them an early lead.
Liverpool had a late statement in the transfer window, signing Bradley Barcola for £123m on deadline day, with the France forward potentially making his debut from the bench. Ipswich were also busy on deadline day and brought in Zian Flemming from Burnley.
Both team news will be shaped by injuries. Ipswich will be without Jaden Philogene and Jack Taylor, while Azor Matusiwa and Florentino Luis are both doubts. Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Joe Gomez, Jayden Danns and Giovanni Leoni are missing for Liverpool, with Federico Chiesa a doubt.
Liverpool boast a dominant head-to-head record against Ipswich, winning 39 of their 74 meetings, but home advantage and Ipswich's strong home record (unbeaten in 20 league games at Portman Road) means this will be far from straightforward for the visitors.
Kick-off is 8.00pm BST at Portman Road with Sky Sports showing.
