De nuevo en la Cruzada

Hola, mis queridos seguidores. Hoy les quiero hablar sobre una de las experiencias que tuve en el pasado mes de agosto: la XXIII Cruzada Literaria en Camagüey. Es un evento organizado por la AHS en el que los miembros de la sección de literatura comparten sus obras en diferentes espacios. Estos lugares no son los que se acostumbra a frecuentar en el resto del año, más bien, se programan visitas a empresas, comunidades y municipios, con el objetivo de llevar la palabra escrita por todo Camagüey. Además de los escritores, los músicos también aportan su pequeño granito de arena en este gran evento. En esta ocasión, por falta de transporte, solo se visitó el municipio de Florida. En el Parque Martín de esta localidad, se leyeron textos y hubo música por parte de los integrantes de la brigada de la AHS. Se nos sumaron también algunos floridanos que quisieron compartir su arte con el público presente.
Al cubrirnos la noche, se inauguró la cruzada junto con una exposición en el salón de la AHS. En la mañana del día 12 de agosto, tres brigadas partieron hacia diferentes destinos. El Hogar de Ancianos Padre Olallo, la Fábrica de Bebidas y Refrescos, y el Hospital Pediátrico.
En la tarde le llegó al turno a las comunidades de La Belén, América Latina y Los Coquitos.
Los payasos y la música no faltaron para alegrar a los habitantes de estos lugares.
En la mañana del día 12, algunos aprovechamos y fuimos al Parque Camilo Cienfuegos, a la actividad infantil. Realmente volvimos a la infancia, porque disfrutamos de algunas de las opciones que ofrecen los aparatos de este lugar.
En la tarde, los trovadores recorrieron los cafés y las plazas con sus guitarras, para todo aquel que deseara escuchar.
En la noche se hizo la gala dedicada al cumpleaños 100 del Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro y a los 69 años de la muerte de los hermanos Saíz, donde música, literatura y baile se dieron la mano.
El dia 13 la misión era sembrar un árbol en el jardín botánico. Lamentablemente, el encargado ni siquiera sabía que íbamos para allá. Por suerte, nuestro pequeñín del año pasado nos aguardaba.
Otra de las cosas por la que nos lamentamos fue el estado del jardín. Canteros llenos de girasoles habían desaparecido, siendo sustituidos por la mala yerba que de seguro se los tragó gradualmente. Muchas posturas sin atender, ocupas, un cerdito por el que íbamos a hacer una obra de caridad, a eso se redujo ese paraíso del 2025. La Cruzada hizo su cierre en uno de los cafés de la ciudad. Hubo literatura, música, un intercambio de libros y una tormenta local severa que nos obligó a permanecer dentro del café hasta que amainaran las ráfagas de viento y agua.
Este fue mi tercer año participando en el evento y espero que no sea el último. Como la del año pasado, a pesar de los problemas, fue toda una cruzada para recordar. Texto hecho por mí. Todas las fotos son de mi propiedad. Traducción al inglés con Luzia.

Hello, my dear followers. Today, I want to talk to you about one of the experiences I had last August: the XXIII Literary Crusade in Camagüey. It is an event organized by the AHS where members of the literature section share their work in different spaces. These places aren't the ones usually frequented throughout the rest of the year; instead, visits to companies, communities, and municipalities are scheduled with the goal of bringing the written word all across Camagüey.
In addition to the writers, musicians also contribute their grain of sand to this great event. On this occasion, due to a lack of transportation, only the municipality of Florida was visited. At the town's Martín Park, texts were read, and there was music provided by members of the AHS brigade. We were also joined by some locals from Florida who wanted to share their art with the audience present.
As night fell, the crusade was inaugurated alongside an exhibition in the AHS hall. On the morning of August 11th, three brigades set off toward different destinations: the Padre Olallo Nursing Home, the Beverage and Soft Drink Factory, and the Pediatric Hospital.
In the afternoon, it was the turn of the La Belén, América Latina, and Los Coquitos communities.
Clowns and music were present to brighten up the lives of the inhabitants of these places.
On the morning of the 12th, some of us took the opportunity to go to Camilo Cienfuegos Park for the children's activity. We really went back to our childhood because we enjoyed some of the options that the park's equipment offered.
In the afternoon, the troubadours wandered through cafes and squares with their guitars for anyone who wished to listen.
At night, the gala dedicated to the 100th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and the 69th anniversary of the death of the Saíz brothers took place, where music, literature, and dance went hand in hand.
On the 13th, the mission was to plant a tree in the botanical garden. Unfortunately, the person in charge didn't even know we were coming. Luckily, our little tree from last year was waiting for us.
Another thing we lamented was the state of the garden. Flowerbeds full of sunflowers had disappeared, replaced by weeds that surely swallowed them up gradually. Many unattended seedlings, squatters, a little pig we were going to do a charity act for—that was what that 2025 paradise had been reduced to.
The Crusade had its closing in one of the city's cafes. There was literature, music, a book exchange, and a severe local storm that forced us to stay inside the cafe until the gusts of wind and rain subsided.
This was my third year participating in the event, and I hope it won't be the last. Like last year's, despite the problems, it was quite a crusade to remember.
