How is Hive doing from a witness standpoint? This report looks at the voting support behind the current Top 21, July witness-vote activity, voting concentration, missed blocks, software version readiness, HBD interest-rate settings and price-feed quality.

Witness Vote Actions
Who gained the most number of new votes, and who lost votes? Here is the chart.
There was 936 new approvals in July and 475 removals across all 129 witnesses with vote activity. This includes 103 witnesses that were active and 26 that were disabled or inactive. The query covers all 129, while the chart shows the 20 largest gross movements, measured as approvals received plus approvals removed. @stoodkev ranks first with 68 total actions and a net gain of 50. New and removed actions indicate activity, but they do not measure HP movement because voter balances, proxies and governance eligibility can change without a new witness-vote transaction.
Witness Votes in Hive Power
Individual votes do show the overall support, but what really counts in a stake based system is the mount of HP each witness has gained / lost. Here is the chart for the last month.
Across the full monthly activity set, new approval operations represented approximately 38.26M HP, while removal operations represented 34.25M HP. The @vsc.network had the largest positive difference at approximately +2.14M HP, followed by @gtg at +2.08M HP and @liketu at +1.80M HP. @aliento had the largest negative difference at approximately -4.56M HP.
Witness Ranking With the actions above, new support gained and lost, here is the current situation about witness rank and support.
The current ranking is led by @gtg with 103.45M HP in witness support, followed by @ocd-witness with 102.06M HP. At the lower end, @smooth.witness holds rank 20 with 81.62M HP and @howo is rank 21 with 75.17M HP.
The gap between ranks 20 and 21 is approximately 6.45M HP, while the full gap between ranks 1 and 21 is 28.28M HP. The number on each bar also shows the current count of witness approvals. It should not be confused with voting weight: one large account can contribute more HP than many small accounts. This first saved ranking is the baseline; subsequent reports will show no change, +1, -1 or larger movements beside each witness.
Biggest Governance Movers
Which voter accounts had the most stake behind their July witness-vote changes? The chart below screens every account that added or removed at least one witness approval during July, then ranks the 20 largest by effective HP. The bars measure account voting weight, while the labels show how many approvals the account added and removed.
The 20 accounts represented approximately 10.16M effective HP. @solominer ranked first at 1.37M HP and exchanged support from @aliento to @rishi556. @acidyo followed at 1.29M HP with four approvals and four removals. @azircon, at 1.21M HP, removed two approvals without adding a new one, while @quochuy added six and removed one with 1.17M HP.@ josephsavage recorded the most activity among the five largest accounts, with nine additions and six removals backed by approximately 0.99M HP.
This ranking identifies large accounts that actively changed witness choices; it does not imply that every operation changed network support by the displayed HP at transaction time. The calculation uses current effective HP, including proxied stake, because historical voter balances and proxy weight are not available for each July operation.
Missed Blocks and Witness Reliability Hive scheduled 892,800 three-second slots during July. The chain produced 889,992 blocks and recorded 2,808 producer-missed operations, giving an overall completion rate of approximately 99.685%.
The current Top 21 accounted for 669 of the network-wide misses. @howo has the highest rate in this group at approximately 0.234%, but it produced only 2,979 blocks during July because it spent most of the month outside the regularly scheduled set. Among the heavily scheduled witnesses, @arcange recorded 99 misses from 42,515 scheduled slots, or approximately 0.233%. The unusual network conditions on 9 and 10 July generated 787 misses, equal to 28% of the monthly total. This is why both the count and denominator matter. A backup witness can have a small raw count but a meaningful rate, while an isolated disruption can affect several active witnesses at the same time.
Witness HBD Interest-Rate Changes HBD interest changes can be a hot topic. It sets the interest for HBD in savings. So users will pay close attention to this.
A lot of the top 21 witnesses reduced the interest rate in July, marked with red on the chart. The median for the current Top 21 moved from 12.0% at the start of July to 10.0% at month-end. Nine witnesses lowered their setting, twelve ended unchanged and none finished the month with a higher rate.
The largest change came from @therealwolf, which moved from 20% to 8%, a reduction of 12 percentage points. @emrebeyler moved from 20% to 10%, while several witnesses that started between 12% and 15% also moved toward 10%. Month-end settings ranged from 6% to 12%.
Price-Feed Freshness and Dispersion The price feed is an essential parameter for the Hive chain having in mind the dual currency system and the conversions between HBD and Hive. The top 21 witness are feeding the chain with outside prices, serving as oracles.
At the July month-end cutoff, one witness had published within 15 minutes, seven were between 15 and 30 minutes old, eight were between 30 and 60 minutes old, and two were between one and 24 hours old. Three feeds—@roelandp, @guiltyparties and @good-karma—were more than 24 hours old.
The median published value was 0.042 HBD per HIVE. The full range was 0.042 to 0.043, so the higher observations were approximately 2.4% above the median. Dispersion was narrow in absolute terms, but the stale feeds deserve separate attention because an old value can become more problematic when the market is moving quickly.
Witness Software-Version Readiness At the 8 August snapshot, 18 of the Top 21 witnesses were reporting node version 1.28.7. The remaining three—@ocd-witness, @threespeak and @emrebeyler—were reporting version 1.28.3.
An 86% share on the newest observed version is a strong operational signal, although version count alone does not prove hardfork readiness. The report should continue to track both the running version and hardfork-version vote, especially before a consensus-changing release.
Witness Vote Concentration Voting concentration remains one of the most important governance indicators. The largest direct-voting entity, including stake routed to it through proxies, controls approximately 24.0% of the effective witness-voting stake measured here. The Top 5 account for 42.3%, the Top 10 for 51.5%, the Top 20 for 60.2% and the Top 50 for 71.2%.
The largest entity in the snapshot is @blocktrades, with approximately 32.45M effective HP when its own stake and proxied voting stake are combined. The curve shows that influence broadens after the largest few entities, but passing 50% within the Top 10 means a relatively small set of decision paths can still affect the whole witness ranking.
