En esta ocasión les comparto una de las cosas que me han abierto los ojos en cuanto al crecimiento de mis hijos. Me parece que fue ayer, cuando me dijeron que tenía un embarazo gemelar, una hembra y un varón. Ya yo tenía un hijo, así que había tenido la experiencia de criar a un varón y esperaba con mucha ilusión una niña. Por aquello de hacerle los moños, ponerle los lazos, tejerle sueteres, bolsos, muñecos, pero aunque muy coqueta, la niña me salió bailarina, así que desde muy pequeña se comenzó a maquillarse para todos sus eventos de danza. Al principio era yo misma que la maquillaba y le ponía su sombra, su pintura de labios, su rubor, pero a medida que fue pasando el tiempo, ella fue perfeccionando la técnica y ya no dejaba que yo interviniera, en lo del maquillaje y me alejaba con la frase de: "Yo sé lo que hago". Tanto así, que ahorita me da unas clases magistrales de cómo maquillarse e inclusive ha hecho maquillajes excepcionales, me he dado cuenta de que ha madurado. Y todavía yo me asombro, de tan cortico el tiempo que ha pasado y de lo grande que está y en lo que se ha convertido, una mujer segura de sí misma, independiente, que toma la mayoría de sus decisiones. Aunque en eso, yo todavía tengo un poco de voz, pues todavía me pide sugerencias en situaciones de vida, que sólo la experiencia da luz, lo que le puede ahorrar malos ratos y propiciar momentos maravillosos para su vida. This time, I’d like to share one of the things that has really opened my eyes when it comes to raising my children. It feels like just yesterday when they told me I was expecting twins—a girl and a boy. I already had a son, so I’d had the experience of raising a boy and was eagerly looking forward to having a girl—thinking about doing her hair in buns, putting bows in her hair, knitting her sweaters, bags, and dolls. But even though she’s very girly, my daughter turned out to be a dancer, so from a very young age she started putting on makeup for all her dance events. At first, I was the one who did her makeup—applying her eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush—but as time went on, she perfected her technique and wouldn’t let me help with her makeup anymore; she’d shoo me away with the phrase, “I know what I’m doing.” So much so that now she gives me master classes on how to apply makeup, and she’s even created some exceptional looks—I’ve realized that she’s matured. And I’m still amazed at how quickly time has flown, how grown-up she is, and what she’s become: a self-confident, independent woman who makes most of her own decisions. Although I still have a say in that—she still asks me for advice on life situations that only experience can shed light on—which can spare her some hard times and lead to wonderful moments in her life.
