¡Hola hermosa comunidad TopFiveFamily!
Hello, wonderful TopFiveFamily community! I’m so happy to be participating again in the [TBT Contest: One Photo, One Story, One of Those Thursdays—July 16](https://peakd.com/hive-192096/@lanzjoseg/concurso-tbt-una-foto-una-historia-un-dia-de-esos-jueves-16-de-julio). This time, I’m sharing a very sweet memory from my newborn son’s first adventure. My parents wanted to go on a trip to Caripe, specifically to the Cueva del Guacharo natural monument, and they didn’t want to leave me alone at home since Manuel Andrés, my oldest son, was just a month and a few days old. So I set up his bassinet—which is a large basket designed to carry the baby comfortably—and took it with me on the bus. Back then, my dad had a bus we were going to ride in, and my cousins, some neighbors, and several friends joined us on the adventure—all in all, we were a big group that went out for a drive and to have some fun; Of course, I couldn’t go into the cave at that time, so my first husband, my parents, the baby, and I stayed outside while everyone else went inside the cave to explore. Since the little town is quite cool, my son didn’t have any problems with the heat or mosquito bites—nothing bothered him, because he was a baby who was sensitive to insect bites. Plus, he was with me, and I was breastfeeding him, so his food was taken care of. We took in the scenery in front of the natural monument and took a round of photos in the plaza in front of the cave, so the baby could soak up a little morning sun and we could clear our heads a bit after being cooped up for those past few days. The trip there went smoothly, but the return trip didn’t—we had a mechanical breakdown on the bus. So we were stranded on the highway, but since my dad was a mechanic, he got right to work with his friends who were there to fix the bus, and thank God, everything worked out and we were able to make it back to the city with plenty of stories to tell. Especially the stories from those who went into the cave—when they came out, they were soaked from head to toe, but very happy about everything they saw inside: the rock formations, the little animals they spotted, and especially the song of the guacharos that accompanied them almost the entire way, right up to the Hall of Silence. And my baby had a great time, that's for sure—it was as if he'd walked a really long way, because he arrived tired and slept really well that night, almost the whole night. I put him to bed at 10 p.m., and he woke up at 6 a.m., which is unusual for a baby that age, but I know he liked the trip and enjoyed his first adventure.
