En esta ocasión Les comparto un recuerdo muy lindo de una visita que dimos a la población de Araya, en la península del mismo nombre en el estado Sucre; a donde fuimos a pasear junto con mis hijos, dos amigas y sus hijos, ese viaje fue inolvidable, porque sin querer nos tuvimos que quedarnos a pasar la noche, porque el ferry nos dejó barados en el pueblo, así que tuve que recurrir a la hermana de una de mis vecinas, para que nos diera posada esa noche. ¡Qué alegría! ver esa casa preciosa, que al principio es una churuata larga, llena de chinchorros, con una cocina rustica, es un sitio de verdad muy bonito y decíamos nos vamos a quedar aquí, aunque después nos dieron una habitación y nos quedamos con las ganas de dormir en la churuata. Pasamos la noche espectacular, como si fuera una pijamada y la dueña de la casa, una mujer muy linda y amable, que nos brindo el desayuno, al día siguiente y después nos dijo que chévere que nos quedamos con ella, que aprovecháramos la playa otra vez. Las playas de Araya son muy bonitas, aunque extremadamente saladas y frías, porque en la población hay una gran Salina. El pueblo es pequeño, aunque bastante cómodo; cuenta con hotel, con farmacia, con un banco, tiene varias panaderías, bastantes bodegas o expendio de víveres y bebidas y sus pobladores es una gente muy amable, afable, cordial y familiar, que brinda calor humano cuando uno visita el pueblo.

This time, I’d like to share a very fond memory of a visit we made to the town of Araya, on the peninsula of the same name in Sucre State; where we went for a day trip with my children, two friends, and their children. That trip was unforgettable because, unexpectedly, we had to stay the night—the ferry left us stranded in the town—so I had to turn to the sister of one of my neighbors to put us up for the night. What a joy! To see that beautiful house—which at first glance is a long churuata, full of hammocks, with a rustic kitchen—it’s a truly lovely place, and we said, “We’re going to stay here,” even though they later gave us a room and we were left wishing we could have slept in the churuata. We had an amazing night—it felt just like a sleepover. The owner of the house, a very lovely and kind woman, served us breakfast the next day and then told us how great it was that we’d stayed with her, and that we should enjoy the beach again. The beaches in Araya are very beautiful, though extremely salty and cold, because there’s a large salt flat in the town. The town is small, though quite comfortable; it has a hotel, a pharmacy, a bank, several bakeries, quite a few grocery stores and liquor stores, and its residents are very kind, friendly, warm, and welcoming people who make you feel right at home when you visit the town.
