An extended peplum is a stylish, flattering design that starts at the waist and extends down to your desired length (often past the hips or to the floor) while being left open at the front, it easy to made and also you can stylist it anyhow you want on trouser or skirt anyhow you feel.
Step-by-step on how to go about it
Drafting the Bodice (Front) Fold your fabric and draft the front bodice. Mark your shoulder (15 ÷ 2 = 7.5 inches). Draw neckline: 3 inches width × 3 inches depth. From shoulder, mark half length (15 inches). On bust line, divide bust: 35 ÷ 4 = 8.75 + 2inch = 10.75 inches. Waist: 26 ÷ 4 = 6.5 + 2 inch allowance = 8.5 inch connect the point and cut out
✂️ Drafting the Back Bodice Neckline: 3 inches width × 1 inch depth. Shoulder = 7.5 inches. Half length = 14 inches. Use same bust line as front. Shape waist slightly. Add zipper allowance at center back. ✂️ Sleeve Drafting Sleeve length = 7 inches. Round sleeve = 14 ÷ 2 = 7 inches. Draw sleeve cap and connect smoothly.
Sewing Process
Sew the lining to the front and back after that Join shoulder seams (front to back). Attach sleeves to armhole. Sew side seams.
✂️ Cutting the Extended Peplum
Front Peplum: Fold your front fabric in half. Mark your quarter-waist measurement at the top fold, and then measure down the fabric to your total desired peplum length. Cut this out. You should have one piece on fold for the front.
Back Peplum: For the back, you will cut two separate pieces (left and right). Remember to add a 1-inch zipper allowance to the center back edge of each piece.
Stitching the Peplum Mark Midpoints: Fold your cut front peplum piece in half and make a small notch with your scissors to mark the exact center. Do the same for the center front of your upper bodice.Attach Front Peplum: Place the right side of the front peplum against the right side of the front bodice. Align the center notches. Pin outward toward the side seams.
Sew the Front: Sew the peplum to the bodice starting from the center front and stopping at the side seams (leave the front open!).
Attach Back Peplum: Do the same for the two back pieces, aligning and sewing the peplum from the zipper allowance at the center-back out to the side seams.
Fix zipper at the back.
