I discovered this series thanks to my bestie, who made me watch the trailer for the show Off Campus when Prime Video released it. But we both have a habit of reading the books that TV adaptations are based on. So, a week before the series premiered —which, coincidentally, was on my birthday, May 13— I decided to binge-read the main book series set in this college hockey universe.
Originally published in 2015, this is a romantic series with that air of cliché romance that was so popular back then—and, honestly, it feels good to revisit every now and then. The reason I was able to finish the four main books in just a week (because yes, there are more stories and spin-offs within this universe) is that they’re light and entertaining novels. Each one has a well-defined story, with a beginning, middle, and end, but without losing the connection to the other characters.
Conocí esta saga gracias a mi bestie, que me obligó a ver el tráiler de la serie Off Campus cuando Prime Video lo publicó. Pero ambas tenemos la costumbre de leer los libros en los que está basada una adaptación televisiva. Así que una semana antes del estreno de la serie —que, casualmente, fue el día de mi cumpleaños, el 13 de mayo— me propuse hacer un maratón de la saga literaria principal de este universo de hockey universitario.
Publicada originalmente en 2015, esta es una saga romántica con ese aire de romance cliché que estuvo tan de moda en aquellos años y que, sinceramente, de vez en cuando se siente bien volver a leer. La razón por la que pude terminar los cuatro libros principales en apenas una semana (porque sí, existen más historias y spin-offs dentro de este universo) es que son novelas ligeras y entretenidas. Cada una tiene una historia bien definida, con principio, desarrollo y final, pero sin perder la conexión con el resto de personajes.

What is this book series about?
The Off-Campus series—or Kiss Me (its original title)—is set at Briar University and follows a group of friends who are on the college hockey team. And my social media algorithm ended up teaching me more about hockey than I ever thought I’d need to know 😂
But even though sports are a part of every story, the real focus is on the characters and their relationships. Each book features a different main couple, following each member of this group of friends, so the stories can be read individually, but together they create a much more enriching experience.

La saga de Off-Campus, o Kiss Me (su nombre original) se desarrolla en la Universidad Briar y sigue a un grupo de amigos que forman parte del equipo universitario de hockey. Y mi algoritmo de redes sociales terminó enseñándome más sobre hockey de lo que jamás pensé que necesitaría saber😂
Pero aunque el deporte está presente en todas las historias, el verdadero foco está en los personajes y en sus relaciones. Cada libro tiene una pareja protagonista diferente, siguiendo a cada uno de los integrantes de este grupo de amigos, por lo que las historias pueden leerse de forma individual, pero juntas construyen una experiencia mucho más enriquecedora.

Throughout the four books, we find romance, friendship, personal growth, insecurities, decisions about the future, and all those challenges that come with the transition to adulthood. But aside from the jokes, support, and loyalty of this wonderful group of friends, I think the reason these books are so popular is that the relationships are built on a pretty healthy foundation.
Of course, there are conflicts, misunderstandings, and difficult moments, but the characters tend to navigate them through communication, trust, and emotional responsibility. At a time when many romantic stories continue to romanticize toxic dynamics, it was refreshing to find characters who make mistakes but also learn to take responsibility and build healthier relationships.
And yes, maybe I'm asking for the bare minimum, but after reading so many romance novels where arguments are resolved through jealousy, manipulation, or silence, finding characters who simply talk things out with each other is just exciting.
A lo largo de los cuatro libros encontramos romance, amistad, crecimiento personal, inseguridades, decisiones sobre el futuro y todos esos desafíos que acompañan el paso a la adultez. Pero, aparte de las bromas, apoyo y lealtad de este grandioso grupo de amigos, creo que la base de la popularidad de estos libros radica en que las relaciones están construidas desde una base bastante sana.
Claro que existen conflictos, malentendidos y momentos difíciles, pero los personajes suelen enfrentarlos desde la comunicación, la confianza y la responsabilidad afectiva. En una época en la que muchas historias románticas siguen romantizando dinámicas tóxicas, fue refrescante encontrar personajes que cometen errores, pero que también aprenden a asumir sus responsabilidades y a construir vínculos más saludables.
Y sí, quizás estoy pidiendo el mínimo indispensable, pero después de leer tanto romance donde una discusión se resuelve con celos, manipulación o silencio, encontrar personajes que simplemente hablan entre ellos es simplemente excitante.

THE DEAL
This is the first book, which inspired the first season of the series. Here we meet Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham , two college students who, on the surface, don’t have much in common. However, a series of circumstances leads them to strike a deal that gradually brings them closer than either of them expected.
If you're a fan of the “fake relationship” trope, this book will probably hook you from the very first pages. It has tension, chemistry, romance, humor, drama, a soundtrack worthy of a playlist, and one of those literary crushes that stays with you long after you finish the story. Out of the four, this was my favorite—my favorite couple and, yes, my favorite guy, too. Hannah and Garrett were just perfect for me.

What I enjoyed most was the chemistry between them. Even though they’re very different people, they manage to complement each other in a way that feels natural and genuine. Garrett made me laugh countless times; he’s charming, funny, and has an incredible ability to make those around him feel comfortable. Throughout the story, he helps Hannah face her fears and insecurities, while she offers him something he also needs: support, understanding, and a safe space where he can let his guard down.
They both end up becoming a refuge for each other —a place where they can show their vulnerability without fear of being judged. Plus, there’s one detail I absolutely loved as a girl who was proud to be part of the One Direction generation: Hannah is a fan of the band, and although Garrett makes a few jokes about it, he never ridicules her or tries to make her feel inferior for something she likes. It may seem like a small detail, but for those of us who’ve faced criticism from guys for our “girly tastes,” it’s refreshing to find a male character who listens, respects, and supports her—even when he doesn’t share those interests.

Lo que más disfruté fue la química entre ellos. A pesar de ser personas muy diferentes, logran complementarse de una manera que se siente natural y genuina. Garrett me hizo reír incontables veces; es encantador, divertido y tiene una capacidad enorme para hacer sentir cómodos a quienes lo rodean. A lo largo de la historia ayuda a Hannah a enfrentar sus miedos e inseguridades, mientras que ella le ofrece algo que también necesita: apoyo, comprensión y un espacio seguro donde bajar las defensas.
Ambos terminan convirtiéndose en el refugio del otro , en un lugar donde pueden mostrarse vulnerables sin miedo a ser juzgados. THE MISTAKE
The second book in the series continues the story of John Logan and Grace Ivers . Without giving away any spoilers, suffice it to say that Logan makes a series of questionable decisions right from the start, and—as often happens in real life—what starts off badly ends up getting even more complicated.
Although it was the book I found weakest and slowest of the four, it’s still an entertaining and very fun read. If there’s one thing that defines Logan, it’s that he makes mistakes… a lot . But he also tries to take responsibility for his mistakes and find a way to fix them.
As for the main couple, I loved the chemistry between them. Grace seems like the sweet, innocent girl in the story, but the truth is that she’s much more daring and adventurous than anyone would imagine, and Logan doesn’t take long to keep up with her in all her antics. Plus, I’ve rarely seen a character become as skilled at crumbs as Logan is while trying to win back Grace’s forgiveness.
El segundo libro de la saga sigue la historia de John Logan y Grace Ivers . Sin entrar en spoilers, basta decir que Logan toma una serie de decisiones cuestionables desde el principio y, como suele ocurrir en la vida real, lo que comienza mal termina complicándose todavía más.
Aunque fue el libro que sentí más flojo y lento de los cuatro, sigue siendo una lectura entretenida y muy divertida. Si algo define a Logan es que se equivoca... bastante . Pero también intenta hacerse responsable de sus errores y encontrar la manera de arreglarlos.
En cuanto a la pareja protagonista, me encantó la dinámica entre ambos. Grace parece la chica dulce e inocente de la historia, pero la realidad es que es mucho más atrevida y arriesgada de lo que cualquiera imaginaría, y Logan no tarda en seguirle el ritmo en cada una de sus ocurrencias. Además, pocas veces he visto a un personaje convertirse en un profesional del migajerismo como Logan intentando recuperar el perdón de Grace.

Unlike The Deal, where much of the story revolves around mutual support and overcoming insecurities, here I felt that the central theme was learning to live with greater freedom.
It’s a story about giving yourself permission to be yourself, opening up to love, enjoying the present, and daring to pursue what truly makes you happy. Although the pace felt a bit slow at times, I still enjoyed reading it because it retains one of the elements I value most in the series: intense, passionate relationships that don’t need to resort to toxic dynamics to create conflict.
Furthermore, both Logan and Grace undergo significant personal growth. They both mature, learn from their mistakes, and discover that while it’s not always possible to control every aspect of life, they can decide how to live it.
