Day five of dog sitting was a damp one. Rain had fallen overnight, so the fields were completely soaked. Instead of walking all the way down the fields to the road, where I would have needed to put the pooch on the lead, I decided to loop around the perimeter of the two fields instead. There were no sheep or cows out today, so he could stay off the lead the whole time.

We crossed a small stone bridge and squeezed through an old wooden gate.

There were wide green fields stretching out in front of us, with hills in the background. It was really quiet under the cloudy sky, and the fresh air was lovely.

Tucked down in the grass, small white clover blossoms were scattered across the field.

The open space really seemed to send the pooch into an absolute gallop. As soon as he realised we were staying in the fields, he had a good run. Instead of just trotting along next to me as usual, he was flat out running and doing zoomies.

Moving at a steady pace while the dog was running about gave me time to spot a few small details. Raindrops were resting on blades of grass and a white feather lying in the field.

My feet ended up wet through by the end, but seeing the pooch have a good run made it worth it. Just as we headed back the sun finally came out, brightening up the damp morning.
