It was sunny and bright, so I decided to head out and spend an hour walking around the local nature reserve.

The weather was far too nice to stay indoors, and I wanted to get some fresh air.

As I walked along the path past the dry fields and metal gates, I decided to slow down and have a closer look at some of the plants and flowers around me.

I spotted a common fleabane, yellow flower and, when I looked closer, I noticed two tiny insects sitting in the middle of it.

Further along, I saw some dry poppy seed heads and a wild carrot seed head that had curled up into a little nest.

I also spotted some pretty lilac field scabious flowers among the dry grass, along with a fuzzy green bud that was still waiting to open.

There was also a bright yellow hawkweed growing beside the path, with some fluffy dandelion seed heads next to it.

It just shows how much there is to see when you take your time. Even now, when most of the landscape has turned brown after the hot summer, there are still plenty of small details and interesting plants to spot along the trail.
