The Gift of Death =
"Father!"
Juan said.
His sad gaze was reflected in the blackness of the water in the thick night. The fog that hovered near the ground reminded him of his childhood days when he watched his brothers play through the window.
"Father!"
Juan cried out again with great despair and heartbreak.
He had been sick all his childhood, and now that he was turning twenty, the illness was slowly killing him. The doctor had said he would die at twenty without a doubt. The date was near. He had never known the love or the fatherhood he so longed for.
"Father!"
"Don't cry, son, for soon your conscience will wander the mountains, and nothing will remain of you, neither fear nor tears."
At this cruel reply, Juan threw the stone of life into the river and renounced his ancestors.
"Son, death is a gift."
"Well, I don't want your gift."
Juan answered as he removed the white cloak of his tribe.
"You really don't want your birthday present?"
"No, I don't."
"So be it, then..."

-Padre!-
Dijo Juan
Su triste mirada se reflejaba en la negrura del agua en la noche espesa. La niebla que flotaba al raz de suelo le recordaba los días de su infancia cuando observaba a sus hermanos jugar a través de la ventana.
-Padre!-
Volvió a gritar Juan con gran desesperación y desconsuelo.
Toda su niñez enfermo, y ahora que cumplía los veinte años, la enfermedad lo mataba lentamente. El medico había dicho que moriría a los veinte sin lugar a duda. La fecha estaba cerca. No había conocido el amor ni la paternidad que tanto anhelaba.
-Padre!-
-No llores hijo, que pronto tu conciencia vagará por las montañas y de ti no quedará nada, ni temor ni lágrimas-
Ante la cruel respuesta, Juan tiro la piedra de la vida al rio, renegó de sus ancestros
-Hijo, la muerte es un regalo-
-Pues yo no quiero tu regalo-
Contestó Juan mientras se despojaba del manto blanco de su tribu.
-En realidad no quieres tu regalo de cumpleaños?-
-No, no lo quiero-
-Que se haga como dices entonces...-
