Hola, ¿qué tal, amigos? ¿Cómo están? Por aquí todo muy bien, gracias a Dios. Les cuento que, a pesar de que hoy fue el lunes y que los lunes me cuesta un poco o, digamos, que mucho pararme de la cama, hoy fue un lunes supertranquilo porque mañana se celebra el día de la patrona de los marineros, como lo es la Virgen del Valle, y aquí en la isla de Margarita es decretado feriado.

I’ll tell you, even though today was a Monday – and Mondays I find it a bit, or shall we say, quite a struggle to get out of bed – today was a really quiet Monday because tomorrow is the feast day of the patron saint of sailors, the Virgen del Valle, and here on Margarita Island it’s a public holiday.
El día de ayer en la tarde decidimos hacer un paseo un poco fuera de lo común pues no fuimos a dar una vuelta para visitar el embajador sin frontera también conocido como el buque escuela Simón Bolívar el cual está ubicado en playa Valdés o también conocido como el morro De la isla de Margarita este siempre nos visita para hacerlo un homenaje a la virgen del valle su entrada es totalmente gratis para todos y aunque dice que atienden hasta las 6:00 de la tarde ayer bajamos de allá a las 7 y todavía estaban recibiendo personas Lo único es que las mascotas no pueden pasar gracias a Dios no me llevé a Jade porque lo imaginé y devolvieron varias personas en la puerta porque tenía mascotas.
Yesterday afternoon we decided to go on a slightly unusual outing, as we didn’t go for a stroll to visit the ‘Embajador sin Fronteras’ – also known as the Simón Bolívar training ship – which is moored at Valdés Beach, or ‘El Morro’, on Margarita Island. It always visits us to pay homage to the Virgin of the Valley; entry is completely free for everyone, and although they say they’re open until 6: 00 pm, yesterday we left there at 7 and they were still letting people in. The only thing is that pets aren’t allowed in. Thank goodness I didn’t take Jade with me, as I’d anticipated this, and several people were turned away at the gate because they had pets.
La verdad es que yo ya lo conocía, pero en esta oportunidad decidimos llevar a conocer a la suegra de mi hermana y también a los sobrinos de mi cuñada, que decidieron venir a pasar vacaciones en la isla de Margarita, así que fuimos a visitar. Esta vez me gustó muchísimo que a los niños les estuvieran marcando una banderita de Venezuela en el cachetito; tocarse se veía bastante coche, además de lo conservado que aún está el barco y del frío que podía salir de lo que era la cocina y las habitaciones. Y en cuanto a los cadetes, la verdad, todos muy atentos y muy inteligentes, debo reconocerlo porque nos explicaban todo con tanta delicadeza que se podía entender. Hoy es el último día del barco en exhibición porque ya mañana es el homenaje de la Virgen y ya parte, así que la verdad me hubiera gustado mucho que todos hubieran ido y hubieran conocido lo que es nuestro embajador sin frontera.
The truth is, I’d already been there, but this time we decided to take my sister’s mother-in-law and my sister-in-law’s nephews along – they’d decided to come and spend their holidays on Margarita Island, so we went to visit. This time I really loved the fact that the children were being given a little Venezuelan flag to stick on their cheeks; it looked quite cool, not to mention how well-preserved the ship still is and the chill that came from what used to be the galley and the cabins. As for the cadets, to be honest, they were all very attentive and very intelligent – I must admit that, because they explained everything to us so clearly that it was easy to understand. Today is the ship’s last day on display because tomorrow is the feast day of the Virgin and it’s setting sail, so I really would have loved for everyone to have gone and seen what our ‘ambassador without borders’ is all about.
