A DAY FILLED WITH FOOD, HOPE, AND WISDOM: LEARNING IS FOREVER

Published on HivePostify by @emminemsss · Sat Aug 29 2026

Never lose hope, even on the days when you’re tired. Never give up, even when the work feels heavy. Keep fighting for your dreams, keep learning from every challenge, and stay open to anything new that life brings you. Because every meal teaches us gratitude. Every struggle teaches us hope. And every lesson teaches us wisdom. Learning doesn’t stop — not in the kitchen, not in the work, not in life. Wowers, so deep. 😁

Another day, another rant — another hugot to share with you guys. Honestly, what else would make my day better? Nothing! This little space right here, where I can pour out everything I’m feeling, is already enough. Writing has become my escape. My stress-reliever. My way of turning all the tiredness, the uneasiness, and the laughter into words. So here I am again - ranting, reflecting, and releasing. Lol.

Here's how they cook rice here 🍚

Imagine cooking 30 scoops of rice - good for 70 to 80 people - in one huge cooking pot.

Procedure:

- Boil the water first. Pour about 3 gallons of water into a large cooking pot and bring it to a rolling boil.

- Add the rice gradually. Once the water is boiling, slowly add the 30 scoops of rice. Don’t dump it all at once so the heat stays even.

- Stir and monitor. Check from time to time and stir well to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom and to make sure it cooks evenly.

- Cook until done. Continue cooking and mixing until the rice is fully cooked and the texture is balanced.

At first, it was really hard for me. I was confused and unsure of what to do. But then I started to observe closely while the others were doing it. Little by little, it became clear to me. I watched, I learned, and I adjusted. Eventually, I was able to cope and perform it on my own. Yes, I made mistakes along the way — but that’s part of learning. What made it easier was that our lecturer was very understanding. She was patient and considerate enough to accept some errors while guiding me to do better.

After training, I went straight back to our room just to relax and chill. When I entered, I saw my roommate munching on unripe mangoes with chili and salt. It looked delicious, but when she tasted it, it turned out to be so sour! She offered me some, but I didn’t dare to try. One bite of that and I’m sure my whole face would scrunch up 😂 It was super sour! So I just watched her eat and laughed.

On the other day...

Pastil with egg for breakfast and crimstick for dessert.

It was one of those boring days. We already had coffee and bread, but somehow we still felt empty and unsatisfied. The hunger just wouldn’t go away, so we decided to grab something more filling. And what did we get? Chicken pastil, of course! I really love theirs. For only ₱45.00, we got a plate of rice, chicken pastil, and egg on the side. Full tummy, and a happy heart. To complete the combo, I grabbed some Crimsticks too. After the salty chicken pastil and rice, I needed something sweet to balance it out. That chocolatey, sweet bite was exactly what my tongue was craving.

For lunch?

The food tasted good, don’t get me wrong. But was it enough to fill our stomachs? Nope, not really! Hays. You know those times when the flavor is there but the fullness isn’t? That’s exactly it. Sometimes we really have to buy extra viand on the side just to feel truly full.

This ends my blog. Thanks for reading and stopping by. Lovelots 😘
