WHEN THE SPENDER MEETS THE SAVER : BUDGETING IS A CHOICE

Save wisely, spend wisely.

But food is life? What about my cravings? What am I supposed to do about them?

What makes an ordinary day feel special? Good food that warms you up, great bonding that fills your heart, and a bunch of chitchats that make you laugh until your cheeks hurt. It doesn’t take grand plans. Sometimes, it’s just these simple moments that turn a regular day into one you’ll remember.

The struggle is real, but I guess I deserve a budget for my cravings too. Hehehe.

It looked so delicious, but I held myself back from buying it because it was cold. I was worried I might trigger some tonsil issues if I drank something cold.

But my friend? She was the opposite. She kept tempting me, and in the end she couldn’t resist — she bought watermelon juice anyway. Watching her enjoy it made me both proud of my self-control and a little jealous at the same time.

For today, the training on the American Table Setting continued. Since I was already done with my filming, I just sat back and watched the others.

It was actually nice to observe this time. Without the pressure of performing, I was able to notice more details — how they set the plates, how they arranged the utensils, and how they handled their nerves. Watching them reminded me of how I felt yesterday: shaking hands, weak knees, but still pushing through.

For lunch, it was tilapia again. The way they cooked it here is very different from how I’m used to eating it back home. This one had a strong ginger flavor, and to be honest, I’m not really a fan of it.

But I can’t be picky right now. I’ll eat it anyway. After all, I’m here to save money, and wasting food isn’t an option. One bite at a time, I’m learning to adjust — even if my taste buds are still catching up.

Who’s saving? Me?? Clearly not 😂 Just look at my parcel. HAHA.

I ended up buying half-rubber shoes. My reason? "It rarely rains anyway, my old shoes will be damaged." The money saver in me is crying, but the money waster won this round.

On the other day ...

My friend and I decided to grab breakfast outside today. I brought fried eggplant that I cooked, and we just bought rice and fried egg to go with it. It was simple, but it felt nice. Home-cooked food mixed with a quick buy — the perfect combo when you want something familiar but don’t want to cook everything.

After eating, we didn’t rush. We just stopped by somewhere and sat down to let our food settle.

For snacks, I just had the bananas we bought from the market. No extra spending this time.

I told myself, "I’m saving, right?" So instead of buying chips or bread, I went with what we already had. Simple, cheap, and it keeps me full. Maybe the money saver in me is winning today after all. Lol.

But then my naughty friend dragged me along. She was really craving spaghetti and she wouldn't take no for an answer. And honestly? Who was I to say no. Saving can wait. Friendships and spaghetti cravings are more important — at least for today.

So we caved and went inside McDonald's. We ended up ordering spaghetti, a coke float, fries, and burgers — the whole cravings package. But here’s the plot twist: my friend wouldn’t let me spend a single peso. I kept insisting to pay, but she refused. She just laughed and said, "You can treat me next time." I guess that's how friends work. One day she treats, the next day it's me. And honestly, that made the spaghetti taste even better.

For dessert, we had fresh cucumber and apples. Simple, but so refreshing and satisfying after all that McDo. My day ended with a happy heart, a full tummy, and zero regrets. I got to treat my cravings, spent time with a friend, and still ended on something healthy. Not bad for a day that started with "I'm saving".

This ends my blog for now. Thank you for reading and stopping by. Lovelots 😘
