Hoy visitaremos (si me acompañas) el Cementerio Civil de Madrid, situado a un costado del gran Cementerio de la Almudena, la Wikipedia nos dice lo siguiente:
>Fue inaugurado en 1884. En él descansan los restos de tres de los cuatro presidentes de la Primera República, varios dirigentes socialistas y comunistas, librepensadores, intelectuales, artistas y diversos miembros de la Institución Libre de Enseñanza.

Este paseo por el Cementerio Civil es muy reciente, con un Sol en todo lo alto que se hacía notar como un martillo pilón. En la parada del autobús, el termómetro que se encontraba sin sombra que lo cubriera marcaba los 45 grados.
Llegué a sobre las 18.30, con toda seguridad no es el mejor horario para pasear por sus senderos ni para hacer fotografías por el exceso de calor y de luz, pero así es como pudo ser.
A las 19:30 cierran las puertas del cementerio, por lo que lo que llegar más tarde de las 18:30 no era buena idea si la intención era pasear tranquilamente entre sus fosas, mausoleos, nichos y sepulcros.

La primera persona enterrada en este Cementerio fue Maravilla Leal, una joven con sólo 20 años de edad. Suceso que recogen las crónicas de la época de este modo:
>A última hora de la tarde de ayer fue llevado para su enterramiento al nuevo cementerio civil del Este el cadáver de una niña protestante.
>Aunque la inhumación tenía que hacerse en el terreno destinado para los no católicos, y que por lo tanto está exento de bendición, los encargados del cementerio tropezaron con la dificultad de no estar aprobado aún el reglamento”

Sin embargo, todavía hoy, sigue siendo popular la historia de que Maravilla Leal fue enterrada en el Cementerio Civil por suicida y no por ser protestante. Un engaño que, con seguridad, tiene el fin de presentar este cementerio como un lugar maldito en el que van a parar suicidas y maleantes.
Realmente, en el Cementerio Civil reposan los cuerpos de personas que en vida no profesaron la fe católica: protestantes, francmasones, teósofos, anarquistas, socialistas, republicanos, comunistas, miembros destacados de la Institución Libre de Enseñanza, ateos como Pío Baroja. Etc.
>The first person buried in this cemetery was Maravilla Leal, a young woman only 20 years old. This event is recorded in the chronicles of the time as follows:
>Late yesterday afternoon, the body of a Protestant girl was taken to the new civil cemetery in the East for burial.

>However, even today, the story persists that Maravilla Leal was buried in the Civil Cemetery because she committed suicide, not because she was a Protestant. This is a deception that is undoubtedly intended to portray this cemetery as a cursed place where suicides and criminals end up.
>In reality, the Civil Cemetery holds the remains of people who did not profess the Catholic faith during their lives: Protestants, Freemasons, Theosophists, anarchists, socialists, republicans, communists, prominent members of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza (Free Institution of Teaching), atheists like Pío Baroja, etc.
Aunque “civil”, este lugar comparte una de las características del mundo católico, se encuentra fuera de la ciudad, apartado de la vida diaria. La muerte es algo serio y parece que, a diferencia del mundo protestante, el católico la quiere mantener cuanto más lejos mejor.
Tratándose de un pequeño recinto hecho a la medida de una comunidad como #ZDE. Gran parte de éste se encuentra realmente deteriorado, realmente abandonado. De noche, sin duda, debe de transformarse en lugar casi siniestro.
Si pasear entre tumbas es un gran recuerdo que sólo estamos de paso por este mundo, la manifiesta dejadez de algunas de sus partes y la soledad que reina, sin duda refuerzan esta idea: nuestra vida es sólo un tránsito.
>Although “secular,” this place shares one of the characteristics of the Catholic world: it is located outside the city, set apart from daily life. Death is a serious matter, and it seems that, unlike in the Protestant world, the Catholic world wants to keep it as far away as possible.
>It's a small, custom-built space for a community like #ZDE. Much of it is in a state of disrepair, completely abandoned. At night, it must undoubtedly transform into an almost sinister place.
>If walking among graves serves as a powerful reminder that we are merely passing through this world, the obvious neglect of some parts of the cemetery and the solitude that reigns there undoubtedly reinforce this idea: our life is merely a passage.
Por sus calles reina una enorme tranquilidad, esa tarde fui el único visitante de esta singular plaza. Llama la atención la gran presencia de simbología cristiana junto a la masónica. A primera vista, con excepciones como el mausoleo de Pablo Iglesias (fundador del PSOE y de la UGT) lo que realmente resalta son las construcciones masónicas junto a los más modestos enterramientos protestantes.
Las pirámides, las dos columnas que simbolizan el Templo de Jerusalem, la piedra bruta, traiángulos, escuadras c yompases etc. nos indican que en ese lugar duerme un francmasón.
Paseando por este pequeño cementerio, sin duda, muchas de las inscripciones cristianas nos hacen un llamado a la humildad. Si somo capaces de escuchar a la Naturaleza que avanza sobre las tumbas, un murmullo liviano nos advierte sobre lo que ya sabemos y no queremos admitir:
>Polvo somos y en polvo nos convertiremos
>A profound sense of tranquility reigns in its streets; that afternoon, I was the only visitor to this unique square. The prominent presence of Christian symbolism alongside Masonic symbols is striking. At first glance—with exceptions such as the mausoleum of Pablo Iglesias (founder of the PSOE and the UGT)—what really stands out are the Masonic structures alongside the more modest Protestant graves.
>The pyramids, the two columns that symbolize the Temple of Jerusalem, the rough stone, triangles, squares, compasses, etc., indicate that a Freemason sleeps in that place.
>Walking through this small cemetery, many of the Christian inscriptions undoubtedly call us to humility. If we are able to listen to Nature reclaiming the graves, a gentle murmur warns us about what we already know but refuse to admit:
>We are dust, and to dust we shall return
