There are some project pieces that were woefully behind. These are secondary aspects to a project. Why have things gotten behind? Complicated pieces to what should have been a simple project added unexpected layers of complexity. Add in a lack of time to "circle back" to close those open loops and well you will have yourself in the position I found myself in this past week. Closing those loops.
It sucked to have found myself in such a state, BUT and I do mean but, there were some bright sides to it all. Tech and general best practices have changed in some cases in major ways and in others in more nuanced ways.
Plus, having had time and distance from the original work gave me a new perspective and fresh eyes and ears to process what was done and how we could now improve upon them. Which is a good reminder that is is a good idea overall to periodically go back and look at the body of work to see if adjustment could or should be made. Not to say I should add more work, but to account for the changes in those industry standards and best practices. Plus new tech does make a difference in what we were doing a year ago vs. what we are doing now.
So while I was not happy to be playing catch up, I was glad to have found ways to improve upon what was there to make it even better.
