Mi familia tiene la agradable costumbre de reunirse los domingos, lo cual se convierte en una maravillosa ceremonia. Por supuesto, las iniciativas se generan siempre en función de los pequeños, aunque el disfrute es generalizado.
En ocasiones recurrimos al pollo asado al carbón, por ser un plato favorito de nuestros nietos; pero lo que nunca debe faltar son esas delicias que se logran a partir de la harina de trigo.
Así, en el afán por aplastar la bola compacta de harina humedecido, hemos tenido que sumar nos los mayores, debido a que aunque parezca sencillo, resulta una tarea agotadora que requiere de mucha paciencia y perseverancia.
De esta forma, polvoreando la mágica mezcla para evitar que se pegue, la vamos aplastando hasta convertirla en una fina capa que podemos manipular como si se tratara de una tela.
Ya en este punto comienzan las indagaciones sobre las preferencias, aunque siempre prevalecer las de los pequeños, aunque cuando se trata de un cumpleaños o fechas señaladas, como el DÍA de las MADRES o el DÍA de los PADRES, la balanza se inclina hacia los homenajeados.Así unas veces hacemos empanadas, buñuelos, o simplemente hojaldas. En fin delicias que desbordan la alegría familiar.
Una vez acordado el destino del aplanado contenido, procedemos a su elaboración. Durante este proceso nos llama la atención ver cómo los niños interrumpen sus juegos con frecuencia, para constatar el avance de lo que los tiene desvelados.
Muy pronto un olor, que invade la casa, espolea el apetito, al extremo de que hasta los mayores ocupamos posiciones estratégicas para iniciar el deleite.

Sometimes we opt for charcoal-grilled chicken, as it is a favorite dish of our grandchildren; yet, the one thing that must never be missing is those delights made from wheat flour.
Consequently, in the effort to flatten the dense ball of moistened flour, we older folks have had to pitch in; for while it may seem simple, the task is actually exhausting and demands a great deal of patience and perseverance.
Thus, dusting the magical mixture with flour to prevent sticking, we flatten it out until it becomes a thin sheet that can be handled just like fabric.
At this stage, we begin discussing preferences—though the children’s choices usually take precedence. However, for birthdays or special occasions like Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, the balance tips in favor of the person being honored. Sometimes we make empanadas, buñuelos, or simply hojaldras—delights that overflow with family joy.
Once we have decided what to make with the flattened dough, we begin preparing it. During the process, it is striking to see how often the children interrupt their play to check on the progress of the treat they are so eagerly anticipating.
Soon, an aroma fills the house and whets everyone's appetite—to the point where even the adults take up strategic positions, ready to enjoy the feast.
