Ver a tantos venezolanos triunfando en las grandes ligas, es como vivir un sueño. Uno de los privilegios de mi generación es haber visto la evolución de muchas disciplinas y el béisbol es una de ellas. Recuerdo la época donde solo un par de venezolanos eran noticia en MLB, pero a partir de los 90´ todo cambió. Por ello solo escogeremos aquellos quienes fueron cruciales para sus equipos en nuestra crónica de hoy y dejaremos de lado casos como el de Javier Sanoja, quien la volvió a sacar de jonrón con uno a bordo para sellar el triunfo Marlin en el Loan Depot Park de Miami. Algo no comprendido de Ronald Acuña Jr. por la mayoría del público, es que tiene un papel de hombre espectáculo, pero además lo confirma con sus actuaciones. ¿Saben ustedes quien es el hombre del béisbol más odiado en Filadelfia por los fanáticos? Sí, el muchacho nacido en "La Sabana" Se debe a varios factores, además de su intrínseco menú de señales hechas al recorrer las bases con sus descomunales batazos. ¿El primero de ellos? Atlanta es el archirrival de la división y el némesis moderno de los Filis.

One of the absolute privileges of my generation is witnessing the evolution of various disciplines, and baseball is right at the top. I remember back when only a couple of Venezuelan guys would make headlines in MLB, but starting in the '90s, everything completely shifted. That is why for today’s column, we are only picking the players who were absolute clutch for their clubs, leaving aside cases like Javier Sanoja, who just crushed another two-run tank to seal the Marlins' W at LoanDepot Park in Miami. Something most casual fans do not get about Ronald Acuña Jr. is that he plays the role of a pure showman, but he backs it up every time with his performance on the field. Atlanta is their ultimate division archrival and the modern nemesis of the Phils.

El Citizens Ball Park abrigaba el tercer juego de una serie particular ya asegurada por los Bravos (con balance 7-2), a pesar de restar 4 juegos entre ellos. Y todo iba bien hasta el octavo episodio, donde los Filis disfrutaban de una ventaja todavía precaria de 4 carreras a 1 sobre los Bravos. El "gualo" lanzó pelota de 3 imparables (incluido un jonrón de Yordan Álvarez), permitiendo una sola carrera en seis episodios completos, regaló dos pasaportes y pasó por la guillotina a 6 contrarios. El bullpen hizo el resto del trabajo y el juego se lo llevaron los ofidios por 3 carreras a 2 sobre los siderales. Una larga sequía para el pitcheo venezolano fue cortada por Eduardo, quien precisamente fue el último lanzador criollo en ganar más de 15 juegos, en 2019 cuando se llevó 19 decisiones a su favor.
