Segundo día en la Isla de Margarita [ESP-ENG]

¡Enhorabuena! No imaginan la alegría que me da poder publicar mi primer artículo en esta comunidad; dicho esto debo admitir soy su fan. Como lo han podido ver, ayer he dado inicio a una serie de publicaciones en torno a mi reciente visita a la isla de Margarita y con este segundo artículo estaré contando a modo de crónica cómo fue el transcurrir de mis días en la isla.

Nuestro segundo día en la isla comenzó con una taza de café y un par de arepas. A eso de las 9 de la mañana si no mal recuerdo, caminamos desde la posada (después le hablaré del lugar donde nos quedamos) hasta la parada de autobuses en la avenida 31 de julio diagonal al Gimnasio de la Asunción. Agarramos transporte hasta el sector el Salado, ya que el destino era ir a ver cómo estaba la casa de Zully, ya que hace 6 años no veníamos y aunque la casa no es que esté abandonada o algo por el estilo era necesario ir a ver como estaba todo por el vecindario.
Estuvimos un rato viendo como estaba todo y hablando con vecinos. Para el medio día, los planes eran ir a la playa un rato, que como comenté en la publicación el día de ayer venían unos días agitados y no sabíamos si luego podríamos ir a la playa. Decidimos ir a playa Parguito, una de mis favoritas aunque aun me falta conocer muchas playas de Margarita.
Caminamos en la arena, nos metimos en el agua, y en lo personal me puse a tomar fotos desde varios puntos en la playa. Mis favoritas han sido las que tomé desde las rocas. Fueron unas horas relajantes. Creo que necesitaba muchísimo un poco de playa en mi vida. Después de estar un rato en Parguito, fuimos a un lugar llamado “Baguette Bistro”, si no me equivoco ubicado a la altura del sector Paraguachí en el municipio Antolín del Campo. Creo que han hecho algunas reseñas del lugar.
¿Por qué fuimos a ese lugar? Habíamos quedado en compartir un rato con algunas chicas de la comunidad de Hive en la isla, y debo decir que fue como hacer un sueño realidad. Porque tras mucho tiempo compartiendo virtualmente poder conocerlas fue asombroso. Con @rlathulerie he edificado una muy linda amistad durante un par de años, debo decir que de @sugarelys soy un fan de su contenido fotográfico y la sigo acá en Hive desde hace tiempo. A quién si no conocía, ni seguía en su blog era a @floreudys79, de ella tengo que decir que es una increíble persona.
Amé demasiado conocerlas y compartir con cada una una tarde maravillosa, son personas maravillosas, muy dulces y me encanta la idea de poder decir que ahora tengo 3 amigas en la isla. Y precisamente, eso de conectar con gente super linda es algo que agradeceré eternamente a Hive.
Cualquier cosa que diga de Rosa, Eli o Flor no hará justicia a lo maravillosas que son en persona. Estar en ese lugar compartiendo deliciosos postres, cafés cremosos; entre risas y una charla amena fue literalmente un bálsamo para mi alma. Si algo deseaba en ese momento es que la tarde no tuviera fin, pero como todo, nada es eterno y teníamos que irnos.
Flor, fue demasiado amable al ofrecer llevarnos de regreso a casa y de regreso nos secuestró (en un buen sentido de la palabra) y nos dio todo un recorrido por La Asunción, para mirar los hermosos murales que decoraban las calles de esta zona de la isla.
Al terminar el día me sentía muy bien, hacía mucho tiempo que no me sentía así. Ir a la playa después de 5 años fue reconfortante, definitivamente soy fan del mar, es mi lugar favorito o por lo menos en este momento de mi vida, y conocer a las muchachas por la tarde fue sencillamente maravilloso.
Así fue mi segundo día en la isla, por tu tiempo y atención muchas gracias.

Day Two on Margarita Island
Congratulations! You can’t imagine how happy I am to be able to publish my first article in this community; that said, I have to admit I’m a big fan. As you’ve seen, yesterday I kicked off a series of posts about my recent visit to Margarita Island, and in this second article, I’ll be chronicling how my days on the island unfolded.

Our second day on the island began with a cup of coffee and a couple of arepas. Around 9 a.m., if I remember correctly, we walked from the inn (I’ll tell you more about where we stayed later) to the bus stop on 31 de Julio Avenue, across from the Gimnasio de la Asunción. We took public transportation to the El Salado neighborhood, since our plan was to check on Zully’s house—we hadn’t been there in six years, and even though the house isn’t exactly abandoned or anything like that, we needed to go see how things were in the neighborhood.
We spent some time checking out the area and chatting with the locals. By noon, the plan was to head to the beach for a while—as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we had a few busy days ahead and weren’t sure if we’d be able to go to the beach later. We decided to go to Parguito Beach, one of my favorites, although there are still many beaches on Margarita I haven’t visited yet.
We walked along the sand, waded into the water, and personally, I started taking photos from various spots on the beach. My favorites were the ones I took from the rocks. It was a relaxing few hours. I think I really needed a little beach time in my life. After spending some time in Parguito, we went to a place called “Baguette Bistro,” located—if I’m not mistaken—near the Paraguachí neighborhood in the municipality of Antolín del Campo. I think there have been some reviews of the place.
Why did we go there? We had planned to spend some time with some girls from the Hive community on the island, and I have to say it was like a dream come true. Because after spending so much time connecting online, getting to meet them in person was amazing. I’ve built a really lovely friendship with @rlathulerie over the past couple of years, and I have to say that I’m a big fan of @sugarelys’s photography—I’ve been following her here on Hive for a while now. The one person I didn’t know and hadn’t been following on her blog was @floreudys79—and I have to say she’s an incredible person.
I absolutely loved getting to know them and spending a wonderful afternoon with each one—they’re amazing people, so sweet, and I love the idea that I now have three friends on the island. And that’s exactly why I’ll be eternally grateful to Hive for helping me connect with such lovely people.
Nothing I say about Rosa, Eli, or Flor will do justice to how wonderful they are in person. Being there, sharing delicious desserts and creamy coffees amid laughter and pleasant conversation, was literally a balm for my soul. If there was one thing I wished for at that moment, it was that the afternoon would never end, but like everything else, nothing lasts forever, and we had to leave.
Flor was kind enough to offer to drive us back home, and on the way back she “kidnapped” us (in the best sense of the word) and gave us a full tour of La Asunción to see the beautiful murals decorating the streets of this part of the island.
By the end of the day, I felt great—it had been a long time since I’d felt that way. Going to the beach after five years was comforting; I’m definitely a fan of the ocean—it’s my favorite place, or at least at this point in my life—and meeting the girls that afternoon was simply wonderful.
That was my second day on the island—thank you so much for your time and attention.
