Hola, querida comunidad de @motherhood, espero estén pasando una semana maravillosa al lado de sus hijos.
El sábado mi hija Gabriela tuvo una presentación muy especial en su academia, donde algunas bailarinas serían promovidas y aunque esta vez no era su promoción, ella tenía una participación importante. Y qué les digo lo hizo tan bien que todavía me sorprende cómo ha crecido, no solo como bailarina, sino como persona.
Gaby comenzó en el mundo del ballet cuando tenía apenas 7 años. Fueron tres años de moños apretados, zapatillas rosadas y mucha disciplina. Después de ese tiempo, en la misma academia decidió probar algo nuevo y comenzó clases de lírico. Ya lleva tres años consecutivos en esta técnica que la enamoró desde el primer día. Aunque dejó atrás el ballet, siempre digo que ambas disciplinas están entrelazadas y en su academia lo viven así, todo suma, todo aporta, todo la hace crecer.
Ese sábado, mientras la veía en el escenario, sentí esa mezcla de nervios, orgullo y emoción que solo una madre entiende. Una quiere que todo salga perfecto, que ellos se sientan seguros, que disfruten y al mismo tiempo sabe que cada presentación es un paso más hacia su madurez. Gabriela lo manejó con una tranquilidad que me dejó sin palabras. Se nota que ama lo que hace, que se identifica con su danza, que la disfruta y que la disciplina que ha aprendido le está dando herramientas para la vida.
Verla tan feliz, tan entregada, tan segura, me recordó lo importante que es apoyar a nuestros hijos en aquello que les apasiona, en su crecimiento, en sus miedos, en sus logros, en cada pequeño avance que para ellos significa un mundo. Gracias por acompañarme en las historias de mi vida como mamá.

On Saturday, my daughter Gabriela had a very special performance at her dance studio, where some of the dancers were moving up to the next level—and even though it wasn’t her turn this time, she had an important role. And what can I say? She did so well that I’m still amazed at how much she’s grown, not just as a dancer, but as a person.
Gaby started out in the world of ballet when she was just 7 years old. It was three years of tightly pulled-back buns, pink ballet shoes, and a lot of discipline. After that time, at the same academy, she decided to try something new and started taking lyrical dance classes. She’s been practicing this style for three years in a row now—a style she fell in love with from day one. Although she left ballet behind, I always say that both disciplines are intertwined, and at her academy, that’s exactly how they see it: everything adds up, everything contributes, and everything helps her grow.
That Saturday, as I watched her on stage, I felt that mix of nerves, pride, and excitement that only a mother understands. You want everything to go perfectly, for them to feel confident, for them to enjoy themselves—and at the same time, you know that every performance is another step toward their maturity. Gabriela handled it with a calmness that left me speechless. You can tell she loves what she does, that she identifies with her dance, that she enjoys it, and that the discipline she’s learned is giving her tools for life.
Seeing her so happy, so dedicated, so confident, reminded me how important it is to support our children in what they’re passionate about—in their growth, their fears, their achievements, and every little step forward that means the world to them.
