As I mentioned in the post about Kenjaku, Evangelion is another of my favorite animes. I watched the series when I was still young and immature, so understanding the entire background of the show was impossible for me. I just watched it for the fights and because "giant robots fighting angels" sounded way too cool, it would catch any kid's attention. Once I grew up, I rewatched the series and was able to understand all the philosophical, psychological, and social background behind each of the characters and the trauma that made them who they were; in Asuka's case, it was the constant search for approval. Later, I was also able to understand much of the Judeo-Christian symbolism.
Asuka, of German and American nationality with Japanese descent, is a child prodigy selected by the NERV organization as the "Second Child." She graduated from university at a very young age and was trained from childhood to pilot Evangelion units. She stands out for her proud, impulsive, highly competitive, and dominant nature. She usually appears outgoing and energetic to hide deep childhood trauma, mainly tied to the tragic mental breakdown and suicide of her mother, desperately seeking validation from others through her performance in battle. She arrives in Tokyo-3 to join Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami in defending humanity against the Angels. Her relationship with Shinji is complex and tense, marked by a dynamic of rivalry, miscommunication, and frustrated attraction. As the story progresses, her pride fractures in the face of defeat, leading her to a decisive emotional breakdown. In the film tetralogy, her surname changes to Shikinami, and she holds the military rank of Captain in the European Air Force. Although she maintains her firmness and skill, her background is rewritten (being part of a series of clones), and she shows a slightly more mature and independent attitude compared to the 1995 anime version.

Como dije en el post de kenjaku, Evangelion es otro de mis animes favoritos, vi la serie siendo aun pequeño e inmaduro por lo que entender todo el trasfondo de la series me era imposible y lo veia por las peleas y porque sonaba demasiado genial "robots gigantes peleando contra angeles" llamaria la atencion de cualquier niño, ya de grande volvi a ver la seria y pode entender todo el trasfondo filosofico, psicologico y social que habian en la serie con cada uno de los personajes y cada trauma que a cada uno lo hacia el personaje que era, en el caso de asuka era la constante busqueda de aprobacion. luego tambien pude entender mucho del simbolismo judeocristiano.

Se graduó de la universidad a una edad muy temprana y fue entrenada desde la infancia para pilotar unidades Evangelion. Destaca por su carácter orgulloso, impulsivo, altamente competitivo y dominante. Suele mostrarse abierta y enérgica para ocultar profundos traumas de su infancia principalmente vinculados al trágico deterioro mental y suicidio de su madre, buscando desesperadamente la validación de los demás a través de su desempeño en batalla. Llega a Tokio-3 para unirse a Shinji Ikari y Rei Ayanami en la defensa de la humanidad contra los Ángeles. Su relación con Shinji es compleja y tensa, marcada por una dinámica de rivalidad, incomunicación y atracción frustrada. Con el avance de la historia, su orgullo se fractura ante las derrotas, llevándola a un colapso emocional decisivo. En la tetralogía de películas, su apellido cambia a Shikinami y ostenta el rango militar de Capitana de la fuerza aérea europea. Aunque mantiene su firmeza y habilidad, su trasfondo es reescrito (siendo parte de una serie de clones) y muestra una actitud un poco más madura e independiente respecto a la versión del anime de 1995.
