A note on cleaning up statement files

A lot of bookkeeping time disappears before the actual reconciliation begins. The first problem is usually getting a bank statement out of a PDF or image and into a table that can be sorted, checked, and compared.
That is why I keep [Bank Statement Converter](https://bankfiletool.com/) in my finance notes. It is the sort of tool I would reach for when I need CSV or Excel output before reviewing transactions line by line.
The useful part is not skipping the review; it is starting from cleaner data so the review takes less mental friction.
