CCC's Street Art Contest #315 OnoArt (Mural Festival 2026), Montreal

For the [CCC's Street Art Contest #315](https://peakd.com/hive-184784/@digi-me/ccc-s-street-art-contest-b73832e2bc54) organized by @digi-me, I'd like to share what the O'Noir Restaurant's art program, [OnoArt](https://www.instagram.com/onoartmtl/), in Montreal did during the last [Mural Festival](https://muralfestival.com). I don't think it was the official program, but the fringe events are great too, with artists taking advantage of the festival to gain some exposure.

At the corner of Prince Arthur and De Bullion streets in Montreal, on the wall of the restaurant [O'Noir](http://www.onoir.com/), which offers a menu in total darkness thanks to its boarded-up windows. Perfect for artists and their creativity.

After the first weekend of the [Mural Festival](https://muralfestival.com), I went to see how the various artworks on Saint-Laurent Boulevard were progressing. I took Prince-Arthur Avenue, which is pedestrianized year-round, and discovered that [OnoArt](https://www.instagram.com/onoartmtl/) was also active during the festival.

The various artists were still sketching their work. I enjoy seeing the initial strokes and trying to imagine the final result. I'll explain all of this in more detail below, on the finished pieces.

Tchekon
We're starting with [Tchekon](https://www.instagram.com/tchekon/), a Montreal artist who often participates in various Montreal festivals. He took advantage of the location with the [O'Noir](http://www.onoir.com/) restaurant, where you eat in complete darkness, to talk about [Tiresias](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiresias) from Greek mythology: "A seer struck by blindness in Greek mythology, he is known for his great clairvoyance and for being the only one to keep his mind clear and lucid in the midst of the underworld. So here's a version of Tiresias who's starving and orders everything on the menu." (source: [Instagram Tchekon](https://www.instagram.com/tchekon/). Always cool to learn through #StreetArt.

Il a profité de l'emplacement avec le restaurant [O'Noir](http://www.onoir.com/) où on mange dans le noir complet pour parler de [Tiresias](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiresias) de la mythologie grecque : "devin frappé de cécité de la mythologie grecque, est connu pour être doté d'une grande clairvoyance et pour être le seul à garder son esprit clair et lucide au milieu du royaume des enfers. Angie Warhol
On Bullion Street, it was Angie Warhol who painted this window with this Venus, if we're sticking with mythology. I like the phrase underneath: "The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are."

LP Montoya & Valentine Alma
On Prince-Arthur Avenue, it's like being in an art gallery where several paintings are on display. We start with [LP Montoya](https://www.instagram.com/lpmontoya.art/), a Montreal artist quite recognizable, especially thanks to his background. The frog riding a unicycle in the center is really charming, perfect for a festival like Mural Festival. Next to it, in the background, is [Valentine Alma](https://www.instagram.com/vvv.alentin.aaa/), the first time I've seen her work, a spectacular still life, isn't it?
> Sur l'avenue Prince-Arthur, nous sommes comme dans une galerie d'art où plusieurs tableaux sont exposés. On commence avec [LP Montoya](https://www.instagram.com/lpmontoya.art/), artiste montréalais assez reconnaissable surtout grâce à son fond. Le grenouille faisant du unicycle au centre est vraiment sympathique, parfaite pour un festival comme Mural Festival. A côté, dans le cade, il s'agit de [Valentine Alma](https://www.instagram.com/vvv.alentin.aaa/), première fois que je vois son travail, une nature morte spectaculaire, non ?
Oceane Graça, Nedjma, Vanyul Johnston & Gong
I realize I didn't take many photos of the other paintings. We find [Nedjma](https://www.instagram.com/nedjmaziarati/), also from Montreal, with an enchanted island inhabited by a few mermaids. Above it is [Océane Graça](https://www.instagram.com/oceanegraca/) with another equally festive frog. We finish this group with [Gong](https://www.instagram.com/gonggraffiti/) and [Vanyul Johnston](https://www.instagram.com/vanyul.too/). It's really nice to see all these artists side by side, a free, open-air museum. A favorite work today? For me, the still life by [Valentine Alma](https://www.instagram.com/vvv.alentin.aaa/), an old technique with an alien touch 😀, I like the mix.

On retrouve [Nedjma](https://www.instagram.com/nedjmaziarati/), aussi de Montréal, avec une île enchantée habitée par quelques sirênes. Au dessus, il s'agit [Océane Graça](https://www.instagram.com/oceanegraca/) avec une autre grenouille tout aussi festive. On termine cet ensemble avec [Gong](https://www.instagram.com/gonggraffiti/) et [Vanyul Johnston](https://www.instagram.com/vanyul.too/). C'est vraiment sympa de voir tous ces artistes côte à côte, un musée gratuit et à l'air libre. Une oeuvre préférée aujourd'hui ? Pour moi, la nature morte de [Valentine Alma](https://www.instagram.com/vvv.alentin.aaa/), une technique ancienne avec une touche extraterrestre, j'aime bien le mélange.
