[Sony and game monetization] Sony seems to enjoy being kicked in the head, because they've come up with another idiotic idea. Although, to be honest, if it were a trustworthy company, I wouldn't mind watching in-game ads if the price drops by X. Admittedly, it would be stupid if you buy a game on sale... No, it's a stupid solution anyway. Unless, of course, it's for those who want it.

[Sony's comment on discs] A week ago, one of Sony's executives responded to player complaints. You've probably heard about this, so I won't repeat myself. Basically, Sony exposed themselves to fire by talking about these turntable discs while simultaneously flushing game discs down the toilet. https://gamerant.com/sony-playstation-ps-6-digital-games-pc/
[Steam x PS5] If you have the right app, you can stream PS5 games to Steam Deck! https://www.eurogamer.net/steam-deck-ps5-streaming-app-asobi
[Marvel Tokon] Gamers are review bombing because of the requirement to connect to a PSN account. https://gamerant.com/marvel-tokon-fighting-souls-review-bombed-why/
[Marathon is dying] I hate to say this because it brings out my worse, arrogant side, but "I told you so." I've been saying since the trailers that Marathon would live a while and then die like lonely people – in their own excrement. After seeing the gameplay and game descriptions, I concluded it was basic, players would test everything and then abandon the game. Online players are like locusts (I've noticed this myself, and several developers have confirmed it, I think even with Dev's Okiem), and if the developers don't provide enough options, these players will devour the entire game, write critical comments (or not), and then flee to another title to do the same. Oh, and what's more, these locusts often kick out regular players (they flee because of toxic players) who bought the game and simply want to play. These locusts learn faster, are often demanding, and play in voice chat, so they run over all sorts of newbies.
Damn, I know such simple things because I've played DotA, LoL, WoW, HoN, and people in the industry don't get it? XDDD https://gamerant.com/destiny-2-player-count-marathon-comparison/
[Games Leaving from Xbox] It's likely that Hades or Silksong will be removed from Game Pass. Some suggest that the former game will be removed sooner. https://gamerant.com/xbox-game-pass-games-leaving-soon-hollow-knight-silksong/
[Ghost Recon Wildlands] You can buy the game for $5 on the PS Store until August 13th. https://gamerant.com/ghost-recon-wildlands-ps5-next-gen-upgrade-leak/
[Blizzard on Xbox Locomotive] We've received information that Blizzard reportedly finished fiscal year 2026 as the studio with the highest revenue among Xbox developers. WoW is supposedly failing, with many players leaving, but they also have Diablo 2 and WoW Classic, which are suitably tickling the soft underbelly of gaming retirees (meaning us), and somehow it's still going strong. Giants like Blizzard can go out of business for a VERY long time.
A leaked email also supposedly reveals that fiscal year 2025 and fiscal year 2026 were Blizzard's first consecutive years of growth since fiscal year 2017. Well... Could Blizzard rebound after a few lean (hehe, how that sounds in the context of WoW) years for its flagship game?

[New law in Australia and its consequences] I'm so glad that in Poland we have a relatively normal approach to violence, sex, and other gaming controversies. Australia has always had similar censorship attempts, as, for example, in Germany. It's a shame we're throwing the baby out with the bathwater, because while social media does indeed mess with children's heads, games (especially those with a socializing element) do not. As proven in several studies, only a few percent (up to 8-10%) of people experience a slight mental change when consuming more violent content. This time, it concerns a law passed in December 2025 – enforcing the introduction of proper age verification. Children under 16 cannot have TikTok and Facebook accounts.

[Halo] Microsoft's new game is experiencing review bombing. Let's recall the possible reasons: Introducing politics and left-wing political correctness. Censorship of the game – only men can be killed. The firing of the entire staff. https://gamerant.com/halo-campaign-evolved-review-bombed-why/
[Fallout 3] One insider commented on the game's remaster and what the graphics, gameplay, and potential "new-old" ideas they wanted to introduce to the original version of the game might look like.

[Nintendo Direct] We'll likely see a new Nintendo event in the first half of September. https://gamerant.com/nintendo-direct-september-2026-zelda/
[News at Nintendo] We've received information on which specific games Nintendo is currently working on. https://gamerant.com/nintendo-switch-2-games-coming-out-soon-list-2026-2027-exclusives/
[Pokemon Winds and Waves] The game won't be available on Nintendo Switch 1. https://gamerant.com/pokemon-winds-waves-no-switch-1-version/
[Oblivion Switch] The game will be available for sale on Nintendo Switch 2 tomorrow. https://gamerant.com/elder-scrolls-4-oblivion-remastered-switch-2-release-date-when/
[Skyrim Court Case] A Canadian man was jailed for 18 months for some nonsense. Honestly, I initially wanted to laugh it off, but then I read the charges and I'll say this... So, for your own safety, it's best not to play controversial games with your child in public (or without leaving any traces). Sometimes it looks scary to outsiders, and kids like edgy games.
For example, my young cousins loved it (when they were young, now they're too heavy) when I threw them into the water like sacks of potatoes. When their parents asked them why, they said, "Because Uncle Tom doesn't care and throws us as hard as he can."

[THQ Showcase] During their showcase, the company announced what would be released in the next few years and what they plan to do afterward. We'll get a remake of Gothic 2 and 3, so the company's remake of Gothic 1 has done its job. If any of you are hesitant, fans of the original are happy. People who know the game but were turned off by it, like me, on or after release (in my case, because of the controls), also praise it, saying that "once they fix the biggest bugs, it will be worth buying."

[GTA 6 online] Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, said that GTA 6 is expected to earn at least $8 billion by the end of fiscal year 2027. Take-Two also released an official statement regarding pre-order numbers.
https://gamerant.com/gta-6-online-statement-sustain-flows/
https://gamerant.com/grand-theft-auto-6-preorder-numbers-take-two-statement/
And when it comes to discs, Take-Two is using really basic arguments. I know they're not selling that well and many gamers are really excited about GTA 6, but let's be respectful; we all know you're only after money. https://gamerant.com/gta-6-no-physical-disc-why/
[UPDATE] I didn't read that this trailer will be exclusive for 6 hours and then released on YouTube. Besides, Netflix paid Rockstar for the promotional opportunity. Meanwhile, Take Two is doing a thorough investigation into how much it can screw players over. Paying 9 bucks to see a game trailer? XD https://gamerant.com/gta-6-trailer-3-netflix/

[Steam x Battlefield] Steam refunded one player the full amount they paid for the game after EA removed one of the modes. https://www.eurogamer.net/battlefield-6-steam-refund-rush-mode
[LotR Online] This fall, fans of MMOs and Middle-earth will get a new expansion pack.

[Peak] The game, which is incredibly popular among teenage players, will soon receive its final update, bringing with it another secret to uncover.
https://www.eurogamer.net/peak-final-major-update
[Stellar Blade] The game's creators made fun of fans by releasing a video related to the AI.

[Kingdom Hearts 4] We've received new information about this game.
https://gamerant.com/kingdom-hearts-4-d23-riku-confirmed/
[Pokemon GO] The Pokémon GO World Championships have begun. https://gamerant.com/pokemon-go-world-championships-pikachu-variants/
[Lies of P] Apparently, Studio Nough is announcing a new game.

[FF 7] The third installment of the remake will be presented at Gamescom on August 25th.

I have equally good news. A fan rescued a game from a few years ago.

In FF 14 on Switch, there was a funny bug that allowed the heroine's horns to be colored. https://gamerant.com/ff14-au-ra-horn-colors-change-evercold-final-fantasy/
[Beast of Reincarnation] The game has been released and received mixed reviews. Apparently, it's not a disaster, and the developers are trying to improve the game as quickly as possible. https://gamerant.com/beast-of-reincarnation-review-scores-pokemon-lane/
