I have never completed a book in one or twice sitting and guess what I just broke that record with "eat the frog", tho I love to read and I had planned on reading one book each month, March was the last month I did and so I want to appreciate coach Favor for coming up with this brilliant idea ..
Eat the frog is a book that really drew my attention from the first chapter down to the 21st, I finished the book in less than two days that's because it's content is rich and impactful with lots of remedies to overcoming procrastination.
one thing with procrastinating is that you involuntarily do it, sometimes with real concrete excuses why you can't do it now.
first of all what stood out for me is the tittle, "Eat The Frog" i mean who eat frogs?, but I think that's just a figure of speech that depicts the ugly nature of frogs and why everyone avoids it, that to me is like the huge task ahead of us, we all love comfort and leisure so anything that will make us uncomfortable we avoid it by all means necessary, so therefore the book eats the frog teaches us about how to take on our task, whether big or small, how to develop the willingness to carry on the task with 21 provable procedures.
I am usually a self motivated individual, but due to some instances I procrastinate alot, tho I enjoy doing task, being active doing something once my mind is made up and especially when I see the results that alone doubles my energy.
the chapter that stood out for me is chapter 10:Take it one barrel at a time: this is where insight and foresight is required if you must achieve good result, whatever task is before you, once you are done, that feeling of accomplishment will make you want to try out one more and more before you realise you're almost done eating the whole frog..
I imagined the scene Mr Tracy describe in the book and I knew I had done same sometimes ago when I was working on something, tho I was at a breaking point I kept going, this leads me to chapter 14: putting the pressure on myself, I work best under pressure, for me working best under pressure means that I must have "set the table" (chp1), planned ahead (chp2) and apply the 80/20 rule, (chp3) with all three in place no matter the amount of work load I'm capable taking on the task.
the book is really impactful and in a nutshell, no matter how big or gigantic the task is (your frog) first be determined, make up your mind to slice and dice that task, in smaller unit that you can take on one step at a time, secondly look at the end result take it one barrel at a time, as you start with one keep adding one more. motivate yourself, doing what matters most per time. this will Naturally boost your confidence to finish up and be happy cause you did .
RECOMMENDATION I highly recommend this book to every person of all age and gender, I thought I knew better untill I read it. you should try it too.
