Mi regreso a Hive/ My Return to Hive

Published on HivePostify by @ibcabrera · Mon Aug 03 2026

ENGLISH VERSION

Hello, Hive friends! I’m @ibcabrera. It’s been over two years since I stopped writing on Hive, and I’ve decided to return to this incredible blockchain, which has had such a profound impact on me. But before I explain why I’m back, let me introduce myself again.

About Me.

My name is Isbel Barrera Cabrera. I’m 43 years old and live in the province of Pinar del Río, Cuba. I’m a professor, and at the university where I work, I have several responsibilities. Among them, being an educator is the one that brings me the most fulfillment, as it allows me to give back to society the education and knowledge I received from it.

I’m a respectful person who makes friends easily. I’m interested in social issues, psychology, and technology, and although I’m not very skilled in this area, I’m very curious about cryptocurrencies. Almost three years ago, I discovered Hive, and I loved the idea of participating in a social network where the community and the content shared truly matter—without intermediaries and without censorship.

Why did I leave Hive?

I joined Hive with great enthusiasm, invited by some colleagues from work. Several of us were embarking on a new journey with so much to discover; we took courses, held frequent meetings, and little by little, Hive became part of my daily life and my biggest hobby.

My life took an unexpected turn. At that time, my mother-in-law began having health problems and needed more care. My work at the university became more complicated; fewer of us remained in the group, and we had an upcoming external evaluation. With all of this, my tasks became increasingly complex—not to mention the daily challenges of internet access that come with living in Cuba.

But the real reason was that I lost my rhythm; I stopped writing, reading, and commenting on my friends’ posts, and little by little, my account was forgotten.

Why Did I Return to Hive?

Although I stepped away for a while, Hive always remained in my mind and among my fondest memories. The Hive left me with a feeling that never faded: a sense of home—that no matter how much time passes, you can always return home.

Sometimes I’d see the WhatsApp status updates from @eduardo900613—the first person to reach out to me with his referral link—and I admired that he was still sharing content on Hive, more and more often. To be honest, I missed the feeling of belonging to an ecosystem where every post, every vote, and every comment means something real.

Living in Cuba has taught me to appreciate opportunities. Hive is a window to the world that lets you connect with people from different countries, regardless of borders, learn from others, and travel without having to leave your spot.

I want to share a little bit about my days—what I’m passionate about, what motivates me, and what worries me. I want to rediscover the feeling of being able to write without fear. I’m not a great writer, but doing so makes me feel good, and for me, that’s what matters most.

I’m not here looking for fortune; rather, I’m here with a desire to keep learning about blockchain, which I’m sure has evolved over this time. I plan to write about my life, my feelings, and my most intense experiences, because in the end, that’s what it’s all about: bringing out what needs to come to light and what might be useful to others; connecting with other people on Hive to build relationships based on affection and mutual respect.

My account currently has just enough to get started again, thanks to a small Power Up I did. With that and my hopes for the future, I believe I can create new content and pick up where I left off. If you’re reading this, I’d love for you to tell me what’s changed on Hive since 2023 and what I should know.

Big hugs! I promise to stick around for a while—hopefully for a long time. See you soon!
