The Performance Crisis: When Everyone Suddenly Likes Everything
Published on HivePostify by @idksamad78699 · Mon Aug 17 2026
We are dealing with the performing crisis and it is getting annoying at this point because every niche thing of my interest is somehow becoming mainstream and
people are talking about it all the time even when they don't have any knowledge about it so they make everyone else who used to be interested in it from years looking performative when they talk about some specific things.
It is a crisis that needs to be fixed as soon as possible also I've had talked about living in an attention economy, so this is no different than that, both are linked and it needs to stop now.
The performance to fit in nowadays
One of the things that pissed me off and I'd why I'm writing this is shawarma, no one was talking about it some months or an year ago but now
Everyone's talking about it and all of a sudden it is everyone's midnight craving? YOU'RE all Larps and are just following the trend.
Where were y'all when you were having those KFC and McDonald's, or subway but now you all want shawarma? This isn't your culture, go away and find something else, the performance won't get you anywhere except some engagement that you're trying to get from it.
The second that pissed me off is F1, all of a sudden it is everyone's comfort sport? La Forza Ferrari kind of shitty caption and oh another Ferrari strategy fuck up when they don't make it
Isn't making you look cool but exposing the larp you're. I mean these people are the sole reason I'll either quit watching or being involved with these things or these people need to find something else.
Coffee people are the biggest performative
No offense to the real one's but honestly every single person that I see while doomscrolling is into coffee even though they don't have money for it and are making anything barley
Are also getting coffee just to post on the internet to fit in with the trend.
They have made their whole personality about coffee and it is weird how performative they are. The only time I had coffee was because someone once said to give it a try and it was mocha frappe, that was good but I don't get the performative culture.
Attention Economy is a Two way street
I've been observing trends from last couple of years and everyone of those trends have cooked everyone's mind. We are living in a attention based economy where everything is running on trends and attention.
It is a two way street because one way can make you money when you know how to walk in attention economy and the other is going broke because you were actively participating in that attention economy.
Let me tell who are these people on the internet, the one who are performing to be into coffee and all that are spending everyday on it not just influencing others to join them but they're going to end up broke or become the victim of doomspending on stuff that isn't even necessary.
The other are running these brands, they know where attention is moving and are using that for the sole purpose of taking money out of your performative pockets to their own and you're willing to let it happen. Could never be me, and I'm glad I don't need to fit in. The trends change over the time, I'm going to stay who I'm. Wonder if you're also observing this and are as pissed as I'm? Do share in the comments.
that's all folks.
