Volver a mi refugio [ESP-ENG]

English Version
After eight months away, I finally went back to the gym. A few days ago, the orthopedic doctor who has been following my knee injury gave me permission to return, with one very clear condition: take it slowly and do not use heavy weights. So even though my mind was already making plans to go back full force, I knew that this time I had to be patient.
I had planned to wait for a month with slightly better weather, but I was too excited. Last Monday, I put on my workout clothes and went back to my gym, my favorite place, my refuge.
Yes, the membership price had gone up. But after so many months without training and finally having the chance to return, I decided that my health came first. Some expenses can wait, but this one is worth it. And it felt so good to be back.
My trainer and my gym friends welcomed me with so much love. For a moment, it felt like those eight months had never happened and I had only been away for a few days. I felt at home again.
Of course, my trainer spent practically the whole week keeping an eye on me. Every time I tried to add a little more weight, she was there to remind me that I hadn't come back to break any records. And the worst part is that I actually felt strong enough to do much more.
But I had to behave.
Eight months without training, a knee that has only recently started getting better, and an injury I definitely do not want to go through again are more than enough reasons to listen to someone who knows better than me, even when my gym ego says otherwise.
I also noticed some changes at the gym. The floor is now completely rubberized, which I really appreciated, and there are new machines and equipment, all of them completely original. It feels different, but it still has the same energy I had missed so much.
And then came the least exciting moment of the week: my trainer took my weight and measurements.
Let's just say the scale decided to remind me that eight months are eight months. I had gained more weight than I would have liked, and although it wasn't exactly pleasant to see, I'm not going to spend my time regretting it.
I know I have work to do.
But I also know I have something on my side: muscle memory, discipline, and a lot of motivation to feel strong again. I'm not going to try to recover in a few weeks what I lost over eight months. This time, I want to do things properly, take care of my knee, slowly rebuild my fitness, and enjoy the process again.
Because going back to the gym doesn't just feel like going back to training. For me, it feels like getting back to a part of myself that I had missed so much.
