Today I want to share with the Sketchbook community another illustration created entirely by me in Adobe Illustrator! 🖥️🎨✏️
For this piece, I wanted to create a character with a cute manga/anime aesthetic, combining softness, simplicity and a small touch of fantasy. 🐱💗✨ The idea was to represent a little catgirl with a calm and peaceful personality, almost as if she had found a quiet moment just for herself. 🌸😌
🛠️ My Illustrator Process
I built the character using vector shapes and Bézier curves, which allowed me to maintain clean and precise contours throughout the illustration. ✒️📐
The line art was especially important because I wanted the silhouette to remain expressive while keeping that characteristic manga style. 🖤✨
For the coloring, I worked with flat colors combined with subtle gradients and tonal variations to give the character more volume without losing the simplicity of the illustration. 🎨🌈
I also paid attention to the layer hierarchy, separating elements such as the hair, ears, face, clothing, tail and shadows. This makes it much easier to control each individual component and refine the composition. 🧩💻
One of my favorite details is the rainbow-colored strand in the hair 🌈💫. I added it as a small visual accent to break the monochromatic white hair and give the character a more unique identity.
The pastel pink skin, turquoise clothing and rainbow accent create a soft color palette that gives the whole composition a cozy and friendly atmosphere. 🩷🩵🌈
💭 What inspired me?
Sometimes inspiration comes from something very simple. ❤️
I wanted to create a character that felt peaceful, cute and a little magical, without needing an overly complicated background. Just a quiet expression, fluffy ears, a comfortable outfit and those little details that make a character feel alive. 🐾✨
For me, digital illustration is not only about making something visually attractive. It's also about experimenting with shapes, colors and expressions until the character begins to have its own personality. 🎨💭
I really enjoyed creating this one, especially working on the hair, facial expression and the small rainbow detail. 🌈🐱💕

Para este diseño quise crear un personaje con una estética manga/anime tierna, combinando suavidad, sencillez y un pequeño toque de fantasía. 🐱💗✨ La idea era representar a una pequeña chica gato con una personalidad tranquila y relajada, como si hubiera encontrado un momento de paz solamente para ella. 🌸😌
🛠️ Mi proceso en Illustrator
Construí el personaje utilizando formas vectoriales y curvas Bézier, lo que me permitió mantener contornos limpios y precisos durante todo el proceso. ✒️📐
El line art fue una parte fundamental, ya que quería conservar una silueta expresiva pero al mismo tiempo mantener esa estética característica del manga. 🖤✨
Para el color trabajé con colores planos combinados con degradados sutiles y variaciones tonales, buscando aportar volumen sin perder la simplicidad visual de la ilustración. 🎨🌈
También presté especial atención a la jerarquía de capas, separando elementos como el cabello, las orejas, el rostro, la ropa, la cola y las sombras. Esto facilita muchísimo el control de cada elemento y permite realizar ajustes con mayor precisión. 🧩💻
Uno de mis detalles favoritos es el mechón de cabello con los colores del arcoíris 🌈💫. Lo incorporé como un pequeño acento visual para romper con el cabello blanco y darle una identidad más particular al personaje.
La combinación de rosa pastel, turquesa y los colores del arcoíris crea una paleta cromática suave, transmitiendo una sensación acogedora y agradable. 🩷🩵🌈
💭 ¿Qué me inspiró?
A veces la inspiración nace de algo muy sencillo. ❤️
Quería crear un personaje que transmitiera tranquilidad, ternura y un poquito de magia, sin necesidad de utilizar un fondo demasiado complejo. Solo una expresión tranquila, unas orejas peludas, una ropa cómoda y pequeños detalles capaces de darle vida propia al personaje. 🐾✨
Para mí, la ilustración digital no consiste solamente en hacer algo visualmente bonito. También se trata de experimentar con formas, colores y expresiones hasta conseguir que el personaje empiece a tener su propia personalidad. 🎨💭
Disfruté muchísimo creando esta ilustración, especialmente trabajando en el cabello, la expresión facial y ese pequeño detalle del arcoíris. 🌈🐱💕
