Riding toward Mount Hagen with Sadie and Charles to track down Micah, an ambush left Charles wounded by a sniper. After I neutralized the shooter, Charles urged us to press on without him. Pushing through heavy enemy resistance, we breached one of Micah's guard camp.
The cinematic sequence opened with John, Sadie, and Charles riding out from Strawberry, setting their sights on Micah up on Mount Hagen.
The long journey forced the gang to take a brief rest along the trail before pushing higher into the cold mountain passes.
As they navigated the steep terrain, Charles noted an upcoming watchtower that could serve as a useful vantage point or camp, acknowledging just how far they had already traveled into enemy territory.
The quiet was shattered when a rifle round struck Charles, forcing everyone to instantly dismount and scramble for cover against a concealed sniper.
Fearing the bullet might have hit a vital area, I monitored his condition while Sadie mapped out a plan to advance on the shooter by hopping between cover points.
The sniper kept up a relentless barrage, forcing me to chug a health tonic to survive the heavy damage I took while aggressively closing the gap.
Once in position, I raised my scoped rifle, lined up the crosshairs on the lookout, hoping it wasn't Micah so I could settle that score up close, and dropped the sniper with a headshot.
We rushed back to check on Charles. While the bullet missed any immediately fatal areas, he was in no condition to keep climbing. Insisting he would survive, Charles ordered us to press forward before the rest of the gang descended on our position.
Forced to leave him behind to hold the trail, Sadie and I pushed up the mountain alone.
Micah's forces swarmed the high ground in massive numbers, proving Cleet's warning true about the size of their new gang.
During the heavy firefight, an enemy bullet shot the hat straight off my head; I returned fire instantly, taking the shooter down before clearing the remaining guards along the ridge.
Fighting through wave after wave of hostile gunfire, we finally breached the perimeter of their main mountain stronghold, bringing us one step closer to the final showdown with Micah, only to understand it was just a normal guard camp, not the main one.
