El museo del cuartel — historia viva en cada pared
Hay días que se guardan en la memoria desde el primer minuto. Hoy fue uno de esos.
Con el Club de Conquistadores de nuestra iglesia tuvimos la especialidad de primeros auxilios, y para eso nada mejor que ir directo a la fuente: el Cuartel de Bomberos de Ciudad del Este.
Cuando entramos, la primera impresión fue espectacular. No esperaba encontrarme con lo que vi.
Un rincón que parece un museo, lleno de historia
El cuartel tiene una apariencia de museo que te atrapa. En las paredes, en cada rincón, hay cuadros y escritos que cuentan situaciones muy difíciles y emocionantes a la vez. Historias de rescates, de noches enteras combatiendo el fuego, de vidas que volvieron a casa gracias a gente que se juega por otros.

Con mi uniforme, sintiendo el peso de esa historia
Después pasamos a un aula, y ahí empezó lo serio. Uno de los bomberos voluntarios nos dio las instrucciones de cómo proceder en una situación de auxilio y rescate. Y ahí entendí algo grande: cuando tenés el conocimiento, vos sos la solución en cualquier situación de emergencia.

Los elementos de práctica y rescate
Aprendimos técnicas diferentes para situaciones diferentes. Cómo revisar a una persona, cómo reaccionar rápido, cómo usar los elementos correctos en cada caso de primeros auxilios. Los niños estaban atentos a cada palabra, con esos ojos que absorben todo.

Fue una jornada excelente, de esas que dejan huella. Junto a los niños y a esta gran institución que cada día pone su vida a disposición del rescate de otros. Gracias, bomberos de Ciudad del Este, por enseñarnos que el valor también se transmite.

The station's museum — living history on every wall
There are days you remember from the very first minute. Today was one of them.
With our church's Pathfinders Club we worked on the first aid specialty, and for that, nothing beats going straight to the source: the Fire Station of Ciudad del Este.
When we walked in, the first impression was spectacular. I didn't expect what I saw.
A corner that looks like a museum, full of history
The station has a museum-like feel that grabs you. On the walls, in every corner, there are pictures and writings telling very difficult yet exciting stories. Stories of rescues, of whole nights fighting fires, of lives that made it home thanks to people who risk themselves for others.
Each picture holds a story of bravery

Then we moved to a classroom, and that's where things got serious. One of the volunteer firefighters taught us how to proceed in an emergency and rescue situation. And there I understood something big: when you have the knowledge, you become the solution in any emergency.

We learned different techniques for different situations. How to check a person, how to react fast, how to use the right items in each first aid case. The kids were paying attention to every word, with those eyes that absorb everything.

It was an excellent day, one of those that leave a mark. Together with the kids and this great institution that puts its life at the service of rescuing others every day. Thank you, firefighters of Ciudad del Este, for teaching us that courage can also be passed on.
