“Silver Adventures”- Captain Joshua Slane – 22AU26- 'Shhhh! Make No Noise!'

[Last time...]
Big Bear lay sleeping comfortably in a well-made bunk. Next to him, Little Grey Wolf sat on the floor, his arms around his knees. An odd noise outside the door caught his attention and in a moment, ‘Doug’, the ship’s oldest dog came clamoring in, chasing a red rubber ball!
“Auuugh!” The boy cried out never having seen such and animal!
As the big dog scrambled under the bunk to retrieve the ball, Cabin Boy Tipper came dashing in and then skidded to a sharp stop as he saw the Indian boy standing right in front of him. The two were about the same size and age and for a moment, neither of them could say a word!

[River Niagara…east bank, forest trail…]
Warrior Running Fox led the way up the northern, east bank trail with seven Seneca warriors following behind him. Despite the heavy case of silver, being carried by two of them, their pace was steady and before long they could make out the ship lanterns of the Frigate Silverton anchored in the center of the river.
“Shhhhhhhh! Make no noise!” (Translated) Running Fox whispered as they skirted the bank and continued to follow the trail north.
On the ship, Seamen Arcange and Handofzara were pacing the main deck with muskets slung over their shoulders as the ship’s bell rang out four bells in the first watch (10:00pm).
Idle chat was exchanged and neither one saw the small group of warriors pass by on the east bank and make their way north behind the ship.
[On the Silverton…lower deck…]
“Wow, well, there's nothing to say about it!” Warrant Officer said solemnly as he and the other officers made their way out of the chartroom and headed for the galley.
“Carry oan Sailors! Gang, Gang! The galley kitchen will be closing up for late ‘Tatties an Neebs’ any minute!” Lieutenant Bleujay said, trying to change the subject.
After the heavy berating that the Captain gave the officers in their meeting earlier the general mood was downcast and it very apparent in all of them…
“Dead! !pimp” Standing Officer Trumpman muttered nervously as he walked quickly behind Bleujay.
“I wish you a happy weekend!” Lupega replied sarcastically.
“Don’t be down in the mouth!” Commander Kerrislravenhill scolded, “We brought it on ourselves! We knew the ‘Soul for a Soul’ was a permanent trade and we didn’t ask the Keptin beforehand.”
“It’s my fault.” Commander Galligan replied as they walked into the galley and headed for the food line, “I meant to tell him privately before too long, but the timing wasn’t right.”
“Such an interesting twist to the story.” Bleujay said as she pulled a tray down from the rack and slid it along the rails behind Kerrislravenhill, “It wasn’t your fault Sairrr, we’re all to blame.”
Luckily there was enough food for all of them to have a late supper and when Trumpman looked up at the drink spicket his eyes lit up and he forgot his dark mood…
“Beer!”
