At 11:59 PM, all phones in the city received the same message: Earthquake Alert
Almost half the population heard the same alert, a different sound, an image on our cell phone screen that we had never seen before. That image told us what to do in the face of the imminent catastrophe. Nobody was prepared for that message. Some of us were surprised, others incredulous, didn't know what was happening, and many thought it was a phone error.
We never imagined that in those moments, just seconds away, the disaster would occur that would change the life of a country and plunge so many Venezuelan families into horror. It wasn't at 11:59 p.m. when the cell phone rang; it was exactly 6:04 p.m. when everything beneath our feet began to shake. I felt an indescribable fear and ran to hug my children. Those were eternal seconds as I watched the walls, the ceiling, and everything around me move.
I felt that this would be the end of everything. I prayed to God for it all to end and begged life to protect us. The shaking stopped. With tears in my eyes and filled with fear, I tried to find out what was happening. The cell service was down, and the power went out. We were without communication for more than five hours. At 10 p.m., when the signal and electricity finally returned, we learned of the catastrophe. At 6:04 p.m., the unimaginable happened: a double earthquake shook my country. I was right on top of the epicenter, but the worst damage occurred along the coast and in the city of La Guaira.
Terror, anguish, and fear gripped the citizens. My family and I are safe, but even now, a month after that fateful day, bodies are still being recovered from under the rubble. Many lost family members, neighbors, friends, spouses, and children. Many children died, and many parents were left without their children, and many children without their parents.
Today my soul weeps, my heart is broken, because as a mother, I feel the loss of a child in my very soul. Today I cherish having my children by my side; many mothers no longer have that joy, and that breaks my heart.

Invito cordialmente a @arribaeltelon @sacra97 @robotgirl2024
